brainwashed living in New Jersey. why cant they allow pistol and rifle shooting. just because there not part of the hunting seasons why cant the state promote the shooting sports. they make us buy a rifle permit. sorry but other states have self monitoring rifle and pistol ranges. do you really think it matters that a .22 shoots chucks lead at 2miles and a 30-30 can shoot 3 miles before it drops to the ground.they are both lethal. the state ranges look same as any other range ive seen. those people were wrong but things dont have to be any less safe in my opinion.

how about its against the rules and against the law! thats the problem with people nowadays. total disrespect and disregard of the laws. no wonder things are the way they are. i bet you even park i handicap spaces too! and then piss and moan because you get a ticket, or beat the crap out of the person that says something to you.

& That's the difference between you & I....Its a violation of a range guideline not a crime as far as I know so I sure wouldn't stick my nose into supporting yet another stupid NJ restriction on gun owners....
Yes, we can agree to disagree then. I was taught to mind my P's and Q's when it comes to this sport. I try not to be the problem in our sport. Do I think it's safe? For the most part. Every once in awhile you hear of an errant round. Center fire rifles travel a lot farther then slugs or rim fire. Ever go to the berm of a range? Look at the trees atop a berm. Covered with lead. Makes you wonder how much lead escapes the berms. This is NJ. There's someone everywhere. I don't want to be the guy that ruined it for everyone. And I don't want to be the guy that just sat and watched the guy that ruined it for everyone.

I understand some guys live their life following every ridiculous rule just because it's a rule & I understand why we have rules & follow most myself, but me personally am not gonna bother someone who is shooting safely at a range. The guys who are bothered by it can confront the person if they think it's a big deal. I don't. Your comment that this makes me someone who parks in handicap or beats people is a real douchebag accusation, so all I gotta say is stfu bitch

I respect your opinion

Right where you park at the Dog Training Area at Colliers Mills there is a field of tall grass. If you go in there you will notice a Guard Rail and loads of broken Clay's. This used to be the Trap Range. They closed it up because people didn't follow the rules. The rules are set for safety reasons. If someone is not following the rules they are not shooting safely. Maybe your idea of safe is different from mine.

"Pulled a lever action out of their case and I didn't think nothing off/wasn't really paying attention till the first shot which was way to loud to be a .22. Turned to him and asked what caliber it was. Turned out to be a 30-30."

This past May, my wife and I stopped at the Flatbrook-Roy state range after fishing the Big Flatbrook to shoot my .22. Same situation, family comes to the benches, guy pulls out his stuff and I notice a lever action. Immediately notice the loading port and barrel size, then the 30-30 ammo and mention to the guy that it's not legal to shoot a centerfire rifle at F&W ranges. Guy tells me he does it all the time and no one else said anything to him. I mentioned the signage with what the range rules were and weapons allowed posted at the entrance and he said he's always shot this gun here. He did finally put it away, then took out his Judge and proceeded to load the handgun. I packed our stuff up and left. Didn't even wait for the line to clear and retrieve our targets. Morons like this cause accidents and get ranges shutdown.
I've also found centerfire handgun & rifle cartridges at these ranges, but wardens have told me that sometimes local PD's qualify with their weapons at these ranges.

this sounds a lot like why through out illegal aliens if their not breaking the law duh "illegal alien " and then its the Clinton effect kicks in with "well sometimes the police use the range to qualify" I guess its different if its the police breaking the law/rules.....and why are the shooters not policing up their brass..........

Actually the main reason the mills skeet range was shut down along some others. Was because of the lead and the nearby wetlands. I know the garbage don't help but if that was the reason we wouldn't have an open range anywhere in this state

From f&w page
Note that some shotgun ranges, and one muzzleloader range, have been closed to comply with the recommendations for best management practices of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agenc

State wide problem. Buddy just told me he was at Millville range and guy broke out several rifles and proceed to shoot up some bowling balls for shits and giggles. Buddy got tag # and called Pd don't know outcome. Not only illegal its dangerous.
Yea man I've seen guys do some stuff like that out in Millville. They pull up or are already there when I show up, sitting with a table at the shotgun field, shooting a high powered rifle at the lone tree far out in the field... 100% not safe

After seeing this thread I called buddy who was at Millville range and found out that the guns that the guy was shooting bowling balls with were semi autos with non reg mags. Buddy is an older fella and says he was scared witless. The asshat blew six bowling balls to bits buddy says pieces were flying all over. Asshat was there less then 10 minutes and threw guns in back of suv uncased. Buddy cleaned up mess while shaking like a leaf. Advised him to follow up with pd. Now knowing the whole story really pisses me off my buddy is retired with a bad ticker and did not deserve to have this type of bs to happen. This Christmas I'm getting him a membership to my gun club.

Every year, I say I'm gonna join cjrpc then every time I get play money, I see a buy on a new gun, or something...
