I am 54 with a rebuilt knee and lung disease. I went from being fit to the point where women desired my body alone in my late teens/early twenties to being overweight and in very poor condition. Add 5 years of catabolic steroids to the mix and you have the wreck that I was.

I recently lost 23lbs by going on the Atkins diet and have held it at bay. I am getting shit done that I haven't tackled in years! The tree rounds long since checked that lay abandoned are now getting split by hand. It is amazing how rejuvenating losing weight and resuming weight training is.

Especially after reading the Elders' posts - I can see that I am doing the right thing. If I don't recover my conditioning while it is still within (a stretch) reach, I will lose it forever. Then when I get really old even daily life will get to suck big time.

As a friend of mine's grandma used to tell us when we were kids - old age isn't for cissies.

9000 is a JOKE not even close to being alot of money for family insurance . every trade union is paying 25%. which equates to us paying 25-35 thousand a year.
and its the same percentage whether single or with a family..

.

i am close to 60 and still out there thank God.i do like Hammer says and don't go in the woods as far as i used to.i am very blessed to have 2 sons that help me when ever i need it.i still get my share of game and fish but like others have said the eyes, legs, back and fingers are not what they used to be.

[cry] I pay about that for my wife and I, what is your deductible for visits and prescriptions? how many prescription will cast you over $75.00 as a co-pay, as for the 10% that goes into your pension, that gives you what after 20 years? 60-65%? how about us on here that paid 7.5% in to SS and will receive just a few percentages of our earnings, Even if you have invested wisely, Getting old in this state scares the hell our of most who do not have a pension from a public entity as we risk living too long and outliving our savings.
I'm 62 and if I received my pension from S.S. ( that was some call it) it will not even cover my taxes on my 3 bedroom house in Union county.

I will be 64 next month and already retired for 5 years now,but am in pretty good health for my age I guess due to all the physical work I did over the years. Some days though I do feel my age and still hunt and fish and mostly enjoy just being able to be out there to enjoy the sights and sounds along with the harvest now and then. As my late uncle said : keep your powder dry and your ramrod stiff and keep moving.

My dad is 80 and still splits all the wood he burns with an axe and he burns quite a bit of it. He gets frustrated with certain things and doesn't hunt as nearly as much as he used to. I try to get him out and excited about hunting as much as I can. I have a few good bucks picked out on his property with stands set etc. I can't make him get out there but I figure if I keep sending my mom pics from the cell cam sooner or later a deer will get him excited. The one thing I will miss this year with him is the 6 day opener, which I have not done in years. I will be in Iowa that week and if I would have realized it when I booked the trip I probably wouldn't of gone.

hgh. simple solution
