Also can't believe someone put 5 fish together over 32lbs- that seems impossible to me. That JB must be some kinda fisherman. 2nd place total is impressive enough ! Flukemasters report: Jersey Shore Fishing: Johnny Bucktails won Fluke Masters Tournament | NJ.com
Jack the last two years the weights in this tourney have been lower than normal..
it usually takes over 35 # to win it, and in a few years it took over 47# to win it.

heres an article about one of those years

Huge fluke catches at Fluke Masters Tournament | NJ.com

we had a great day, but didnt have a big fish to add to our 5 fish bag.

we have had days where we had just three fish weigh more than our five for this tourney.
all comes down to the given day and who is fortunate enough to have a big fish chew..

there are ALOT more big fluke around than many guys think.

Wow - I can't imagine getting 5 fish averaging over 8lbs. An 8lb fluke to me is a unicorn. Then again I spent my formative years fishing offshore and fluke is still relatively new to me but I do enjoy it. Better than getting the living snot beat out of you in the canyons.

LOTS of 8 pound fish around. and thats probably many guys personal best fish.
as there are more of those around than the fish over 10.

but also the difference is MANY guys can land an 8 pound fish.
MANY fish over that are lost everyday, those big fish fight different in many ways.
you can get away with horsing a seven to eight pound fish.
very rarely will you get away with doing that with a fish over 10.
Those fish need to be coaxed to the boat, NOT fought.
the second they know they are in a fight , the intensity of the fish quadruples .

That was the year the scale was way off. Several pounds off. In which a few guys never weighed in cause they heard the weight on the radio. It was all screwed up I heard. I didn't fish it but friends of mine did.
