Had a nice trip down to Disney. Stayed at Ft. Wilderness Campground. Fished where we always do right on the Disney property. Got to fish for a couple of days before we were shut down by security. Apparently, no more shore fishing after the gator incident.[down] My son got this 24", 8lb bass from the shore one evening. I had one rod that I would catch small blue gills with and then transfer them to another rod with a large hook and bobber. We caught quite a few with the bite being best right before dark. We also took a ride to the Canaveral National Seashore, as suggested by, BenGomez. Beautiful beach, with few people, and saw manatees and dolphins in the lagoon adjacent to the beach. A hot, but great trip and a personal best bass, 2 lbs heavier than my biggest. Saw a lot of deer and turkeys in Disney. The does still looked pregnant and we did not see any fawns. Thinking they are born later down there? Thanks for reading.[up]

wow what a big bass... Yeah I can see how they "might" want to keep people away from the water..
Yeah, everything is about liability now. Just let me sign a waiver and let me fish. They do have guided boat fishing for $250 for 2 hours. Actually, I am surprised how good we had it there for about 5 trips over 15 years fishing off the shore, with not to many people fishing, as crowded as Disney is. They have signs every 10 feet along every stretch of lake/canal now that warn of gators and snakes, all newly placed.

That's awesome! My family used to stay in Fort Wilderness when I was a kid, loved that place!

Glad you had fun. If you make it back, Mosquito Lagoon is great for fishing too. People catch huge redfish in there just by wading, though renting a kayak is even better.
