Never seen a coyote this big almost looks like he is mange, wouldn't want to run into a pack of these guys if it's a coyote, hopefully he comes back during the day, I'm sure a wild shephard could live in the woods tho.

They grow bigger in the northern part of the State. No mange on that yote.Coyote. The guard hairs are always larger between the shoulders. Aint very many 50 pound yodel dogs in NJ, most people overestimate the weight of coyotes because they don't see them very often
Maybe in the 40's but 50 and up is an extreme rarity. Biggest one I ever caught was 44 and it was the alpha male. Have skinned many in 30's and most people estimate those at 50. Part of the reason is most wild k9's that are seen are foxes which go 12-16 pounds. A 30 pound coyote looks like wolf compared to thatThey grow bigger in the northern part of the State. It's a coyot. Saw one run up on trail while I was hunting squirrel and rabbit with air rifle, thought it was some ones dog, but it wasn't. I shot a male that weighted 62 pounds and a female that was 42. Most of the yotes I have were below the 40 pound weight, but there are exceptions.Maybe in the 40's but 50 and up is an extreme rarity.
