F*cking bullshit. They made permit bow for my zone even shorter this year. The best part of permit bow for most people IMO is having the days around thanksgiving to hunt. Fuck this state and their $56.
I may be missing something here...but Zone 24 Permit Bow has closed before Thanksgiving since 2013....and it's been 21 (calendar) days since 2014. I looked back at the regulations sets for those years (I know its weird I still have them), and this was what I found. If I'm mistaken, help me out. I'm not supporting the dates, or the State, or the $56.00 they charge, just trying to understand where you're coming from.

BTW - I have not paid for the permit or the buck tag for years....not a fan of shelling out more coin

I know they cut it back before thanksgiving a few years ago but having the extra days around the holiday to hunt are what makes it worth buying a permit IMO. People who work m-f get 4 days to hunt during the permit season when letting it go till after thanksgiving would give another 3 days. I didnt count the actual days from the last 2 years so maybe your right but where I'm coming from is that other zones are gaining permit bow days and they still have 24 cut short. I also can't speak for the other zones in that reg set but the herd in 24 is definitely not hurting. If every deer gets checked in is another issue.

Benedict thanks for pointing out my typo i meant 1997. Now let me set it straight. Permit shotgun from 1997 to now we have killed 305,267 deer. Versus 259,729 during fall bow using benedicts fall bow comparison. That is with a hefty uptick in fall bow kills last 5 years or so. It is still a differnce of 45 538 deer. Or 4099 more deer than last years total kill all weapons and methods.

Could not agree more......it sure would be nice to have the option around Thanksgiving.....at that point, you're less than two weeks away from shotgun season starting and the woods becoming considerably more crowded. For these (and other) reasons, winter bow has become my favorite season. Fewer people in the woods, and no extra permits to buy.
