So have they actually come out with any plans or proposals of what the restrictions or improvements would be? Or is this just a "hey let's make a park and then we will surprise everyone with the new rules" type of deal? Sounds to me like everyone including bathers, jet-skiers, hunters, fishermen and business owners should have serious concern. Are they going to eliminate recreational boating? What about clammers and crabbing? I know there are a lot of boat up bars in that area that would take a serious hit. These could be people that the organization's opposing this "park" would want to have on their side.
Been following this over at Stripersonline. Great job stepping up to the plate!it really doesn't matter at this point because it's going nowhere it has no local support....
he gave us some hunky Dory plan of cleaning the water and blah blah and everybody just saw it for what it was and he was like a Sheep amounts a pack of wolves...he couldn't answer specifics he didn't have a specific outline he has no background in fisheries management or biology he just got destroyed.....Jimmy Donofrio basically disemboweled him in two minutes...
Great Job Dave! I wish I was closer to attend. After reading up on this it sounds insane. Just another scumbag with an agenda trying to take something away from us. Great job stepping up and rallying the troops!Update : GSWA was well represented at the recent Navesink marine heritage Association NMS presentation ..myself Capt Brian Rice and Jimmy Donofrio as well as over 150 more concerned fisherman clammers and waterfowlers were in attendance. The response was overwhelming to say the least and to say this "National Marine sanctuary" received some staunch opposition would be an understatement!

Post a message when you hear of new public meetings on this to be held. I'm sure many folks here would attend given a heads up." Van Hemmen, a marine engineer and author who’s held public sessions on the proposal elsewhere in Monmouth County in recent days and said he’s hoping to hold more."
