For the 15-16 season I shot ZERO deer.

Let plenty of does, basket rack and spikes walk... Never shot a buck yet, will not shoot a doe this season next season one doe for meat and a Buck if I am lucky to see one I want to kill.

Me and my son shot a doe each on the property we hunt. My son shot his on opening day, sept 12th. And i held off until the first weekend in october. Passed on many does. I really enjoyed myself sitting in the stand, watching them do what they do. Plenty of bucks, 3 of them shooters, just couldnt make it happen. No biggie. It was fun the be bowhunting again for the first time since 1991

From reading these answers, it seems to me like most of the guys should shoot half as much does as they have been...
Isn't a healthy kill ratio supposed to be 2 does for every buck killed?
If you shot 2 or 3 does and no buck, my SUGGESTION is you should hold off until you take a buck before you take any more does.
Just a suggestion. Not criticizing.

And for those who shoot nothing but bucks, you need to shoot a doe or 2 to keep the herd healthy.

You would think it would even out, but I guess it doesnt, cause nj herd is depleting quickly.
The ratio here is better at 5 does for every buck, in zone 10

Seasons over , take a ride at 5 pm around by where you hunt by me. You will be shocked at what you will see.
3 fields last night had over 75, and for the last 2 months a deer couldnt have been shot on those farms.

Pressure on the deer for 6 months has made them better at hiding than could ever be believed

Maybe since it's only been about 100 responses so far it would be premature to make an observation. 25% of the responders said "no deer". That is surprising. There could be a lot of reasons for that and that's the piece of this puzzle that is missing. As I said in previous post, interesting info but hard to draw any conclusions.

I participated in the poll, I post not many pictures nor do I post or tell the world every time I kill a deer. That said I shoot more than some, and less than others, I have been doing this a long time and know exactly what my family including dogs need to make it till the end of August which is when I unplug the freezer to defrost and get ready to be filled again in a few weeks. I kill deer so my family has what we need for the year, plain and simple. To the guys that must post picture after picture and tell anyone that will listen it is simply just an exercise in dick stretching.
