Easy to take apart, clean, shoot and reliable. I can't own a 1911 simply because I can't afford one but even if I could I wouldn't want to have to spend all that time and money on ammo to allow for the "break in" period. I've fed my Glock everything and it just works. Also, Glock parts are always around and you'll never struggle to find replacements. People who hate on the Glock can have their opinions. I'm just saying there is a reason why most LE agencies choose Glock. It's an overall great self defense pistol to own that will save your behind when the 1911 theists a stove pipe jam right in your face several times. Sigs and HK's are great but too expensive for me. Glocks are simple and easy to operate. You simply load a mag, rack the slide and pull the trigger. K.I.S.S.

The reason Glocks are so popular , well let me start by saying that you must remember that they have been around for 30+ years. 30 years ago I was carrying the HK P7M13 with 2 back up mags. The glock loaded with 2 extra mags gave me 12 more rounds and weighed about what the hk mags weighed alone. First time shooting it your arms got tired holding it up before it ran out of bullets, You would wish for a malfunction just to rest your arms but thus the malfunction never came and 30 years ago finding a semi auto that didn't malfunction was dam near impossible. Now they are ugly. BUT they do work and you can clean them in a flooded hoof print in the mud. There are really no parts that can be lost. Put the white dot on the front sight in the middle of a torso and pull the trigger twice and the torso gets real sick and goes away. Flat out it is the best at what it was made to do and at the time it was released there was nothing to compare. The carry weight alone wes just unbelievable. Ask anyone who carried a gun pre 80"s and talk to them now they will tell you what a big deal it was. Now 30 years later we have every company making their version of a glock. Guns now are much more reliable. The Glock is not a target gun and it doesn't try to sell itself as one. They were the first and the best and that's why they are still here and still a good choice at $475.00 compared to my HK P30 at $1150.00. $675.00 difference buys a lot of ammo. J.Michael

Love my glock 17 it was my first gun and I wouldn't change my decision if I could. They are popular for a reason it's because they are reliable and the price adds to their appeal. IMO there is no better first gun than a glock 19/17 or 22/23. You can never go wrong with a glock. If you want to go spend big $ right out of the gate then the sig 226 would be a great choice.

Are you still shooting the glock matches?

What exactly does everyone see in Glocks? Besides price point I don't get it. I've shot a couple, they aren't my style gun which is ok, one had 400 bucks work done to it so now price point no longer counts. Lots of guns are better right off the bat so why the fascination?
yup my buddy bought one because EVERYONE has to have a "glock". What a piece of crap. The trigger felt like the gun was burried in the sand down the shore for a month. So he spent a small fortune on a new trigger, barrel, i think some slide work. And the dam think is still a piece of junk. Just sits in his safe collecting dust. Says it pisses him off every time he pulls the trigger, so he would rather let it rot in the safe.

For me it's all about reliability for home defense. I own 2 Glocks in .40 and .45 and have never had a single misfire, stovepipe or failure of any kind. I own a Kimber in .45 and trust the Glock's more. End of story.
