Because someone had a small spout with stress doesn't make it a mental disorder...just like a bratty kid doesn't make him adhd it means he needs his ass whooped
How do you know it was a small spout? he clearly stated he suffered from IBS symptoms from stress....which means he was/is mentally ill

And was or is ..that's the question..noone knows but him..I was just pointing out how states can label bs symptoms so you can't own firearms. If he is a nut job I don't want him with guns but we don't know. I still think an at home interview is bs. If you have fid and you move it should be a simple procedure to get an address change. If nothing criminal happened since his first issuance fuck them.

You are right about something....
YOU DON'T KNOW! because he's not telling you the whole story! He's telling you exactly what he wants you to know....
The procedure to change an address appears pretty cut and dry from what I can see.... This guy has more going on...

Also the state didn't label his symtoms....he VOLUNTERALLY entered a mental health facility. He knew he had problems.

Now folks are upset that the big bad police want to VERIFY this guy's real address...

Would anyone on this board give him a gun based on exactly what he's told us?

I know I wouldnt WITHOUT verification...

So..if I lose my job and my wife at the same time and because of it I go through stress and depression should I lose my right to purchase? Even though say I'm fine now and I moved to another town. Should I be denied a fid for an address change? Some down times in my life I should be punished forever? Because in nj that's exactly what would happen.

I'm not a cop hater I have plenty of Leo friends. And one battled depression because he shot a suspect. Guess what he is still on the force and carries. What's the difference?

The difference is your cop friend that sought help did so within the confines of his job. The department KNEW...
I can absolutely positively gaurentee you that psych tests are given on officers who show the slightest sign of an issue affecting work performance.

The difference with this guy is he's only telling what he wants you to know. If someone sought treatment for a breakdown I absolutely want to verify his home address.
The past is a good predictor of the future....

You'd better be careful with that. Many things in life can cause stress, and result in an ulcer or Irritable Bowel and not mean you have a mental illness. By you're definition, most Americans could be disqualified at one time or another in their life.

You are correct but I highly doubt a PD will go this deep if it was just an ulcer/Irritable bowel. Again, we barely know a quarter of the story. BTW, what town was this in?

I'm waiting for the feedback from the OP... I would like to know more about the IBS visits before he got his original FID...

But while we're waiting, and out of curiousity, is it legal for someone to be denied FID for something that has already been approved for an FID? I mean, the guy had his doctor visits before he got his original FID, so is it legal to deny him for the same reason that was already considered, and approved?

Yes. Different investigation, different Detective, different Chief, different time.

Geeze, that's crazy.

I thought it would be something like a court. You know like, if you go to court for murder, and they find you innocent. But then you go outside and yell "I'm guilty" they can't take you to court for that murder because you've already been found innocent.

I thought the same thing would be applied. You learn something new every day.
