Ken, don't worry bout it and don't go to another site. You went out goose huntin w a pal who knew the spot, sounds like you don't goose hunt much like the pros, so you just went huntin, like a lot of us do, getting outdoors w a pal, enjoying some fresh air, and if you're lucky, maybe harvesting a meal, which by the way it sounded tasty and like you enjoyed it! If you worded your story a lil different, these guys probably wudnt jumped all over it. We all like hearing your adventures so keep em coming!
And for the crew giving you a hard time, they would be a more honorable sportsman to invite you, obviously a guy who loves the outdoors, out to show you how they get their fresh air and flocks coming into their spread.
