Way to go, Jack. Congrats on the late season deer. Out of curiosity, what is the reasoning behind passing on the alpha doe?
. The alpha doe keeps the herd alive. She is the great protector from both man and other predators. You also want her and those like her on your properties for the rut. She has been through many a rut before. She knows exactly what to do. She is not going to run all the bucks off your property like a young hot doe. She will wait for the mature buck that also knows what he is doing and therefore help keep your mature bucks on your property. She is also more likely to have twins or triplets. I always thought it was best to take out the foot stomping snorting bitch but BMelvin had some great points which I just explained

The first time a young doe is bred, she will have a single fawn, after that with the proper nutrition, she will have twins there after, Everything I've read about whitetails out side of hunting mags, bear this out, but it is the does experience lat raising them that make the difference, older does take the best fawning areas and the best food, running off younger does. First and even second year moms will lose At least one fawn, sometimes both, but more often raise up at least one, the older does are better at raising both, and the youngsters get better at it as they get older.
