Posting this for a friend (jackel on njh) his first year trapping beaver. He said the beaver is 76 lbs and his son is 66 lbs. I've trapped beaver for a while and never had one over 60 lbs. Congrats to jackel on a monster

I know one that had a 70 lber also but that was the biggest that I've heard of too

The state Records 80 something pounds. I know the guy who caught it, it was a couple years ago.

Biggest I've ever trapped was 69 1/2 lbs on the button few 68 lbers biggest I've ever seen in person was 78 lbs at the fur buyer upstate guy came in with four beaver that were all over 65lbs and sold in the carcass mine was tough enough to get out of the woods

I know. Its bad enough carrying out a 45 pounder when you dont have a pack basket. Or your pack baskets full of other stuff.

I think I'd have a tough time selling or getting rid of that. I'd have to mount it I think.[ko]

Today I got a 48#er and a red fox. No basket. Had to carry them plus a 20+# back pack, chipping bar and a 330 over 200 yds through some over grown thick stuff. Pain in my as$....well my arms

Doesn't anyone rough skin their beaver in the field if they are too far from the road? I have done it enough times. It takes the same amount of time to do it in the field as it does back home. Put it up on a blow-down or a large rock and its childs play. Just bring a plastic bag, two knives, laytex gloves, and a few paper towels.
