This might have been discussed before, if so, sorry. But if we use our bows during 6 day, do we need to have a firearms liscense? In my zone, extended bow runs through the 6 day. And do we use the firearms deer stubs for checking them?.

It depends how you are going to check the deer. If you want to shoot the bucks you are allowed to take during 6 day you need to have a firearms and bow license and you tag them with your firearms tag. If you just want to continue to hunt permit bow you can do so with just your bow license and permit, however you would be limited to the bag limits for permit bow and can't shoot the additional bucks that are legal for 6 day.

I have a few spots I can only bow hunt. I was at one of them with compound in hand last opening day of Buck week.
Lots of places like that by me as well.....that reduced bow safety zone gives you a lot of flexibility...especially when the orange army hits the woods and pushes the deer to the edges of the public land where they are inside the gun safety zone, but very huntable by bow....I've taken the cross bow out during gun season for 2 spots that are good locations but are inside the safety zone

There are a few places that I hunt (when not using a gun) during six day where the deer will go to in response to the Orange army's movements. These safe havens are definitely only huntable with bow. Once I hunted an adjacent property to a heavily gun hunted area and saw a very mature buck. He knew what was up. Unfortunately I didn't have a shot, but I learned that deer aren't dummies. Good luck!

Why would you??? Unless you're a convicted felon or want to hunt in an area that firearms are prohibited. Plenty of bow seasons to do both bow & gun
no, iam not a convicted felon. I have a nursey I hunt, that is surrounded by "pushed" property. Landowners says bows only. And the deer run onto his property and hang out.

I will bow hunt a little during 6-day. I didn't even take any days off for it, nothing about NJ 6-day excites me... Absolutely nothing. The days I work from home I will put in a few hours in the morning, and an hour or so in afternoon if I can. I made the decision to take my shotgun days in Ohio this week, and I had 2.5 days of really good hunting, nearly shot a giant 8 pt but the does ahead of him winded me, and my buddy shot an decent 10pt 30 minutes later. I saw a lot of deer in Ohio - I know I won't see a lot of deer in zone 5 NJ.

Now do I need the required square inches of hunter orange.
Yes you do. If you are hunting with a bow during 6day under your firearms license then you need to follow all the rules of 6day which includes the required amount of Hunter orange. Just because you are using a bow it's not bow season, it's 6day firearm.
Now if your bow hunting a zone that overlaps with permit bow and your hunting under your bow license and permit bow permit then I don't think you need Hunter orange. But common sense would tell you to wear it. I hope

Depends on how you are hunting. The state recommends people bowhunting during 6 day wear hunter orange but it does not state anywhere it is required. The exceptions are if you bow hunt from a blind during any of the firearm seasons you need to display orange outside of the blind or if you are carrying a deer decoy in/out of the woods while bow hunting you need to wear orange. Its on page 25 of the digest
