I recently purchased the CVA wolf and have yet to shoot it.
CVA recommends IMR white hots for cleaner burns along with power belt.
Would you guys agree with the manufacturer recommendation or does it not make much of a difference?
Cabelas sell the CVA starter kit for 59.99 and the IMR pellets for $24.99 plus $20.00 Haz Mat shipping - is it worthwhile ordering from Cabelas or can I get it here locally.
Where can I buy the powder and the accessories needed? I tried Effingers, Dicks and a sports store at near stokes state park none of them carry these products.
I live is Essex county and commute to Princeton daily so anywhere along that route would be nice.
I've been told to try bullet hole in Belleville but I refuse to support their business (past experience dictate my reasoning)

thank you for your input.

I just purchased the same ML and bought all of the accessories needed at Ramseys. I bought their last box of White Hots and they said they weren't sure if they were getting more though. They were going to check with their other store on Rt. 17 so call before you go.

ek, you don't necessarily have to use CVA's "suggested" pet load. Actually, there are much better muzzy bullets than PBs and the availability of White Hots like Blackthorn 209 can be spotty. I bought my Optima V2 3 weeks ago and I have it sighted in with Triple 7 powder, Harvester Scorpion PT Gold bullets, and Crush Rib sabots. Thing shoots awesome. I buy the bullets and sabots in bulk so it's alot cheaper that way. Part of the fun of muzzleloading IMO is experimenting and developing a load that shoots well out of your rifle. Good luck to you.

I bought a CVA Wolf last month. Loaded it with 2 Pyrodex 777 pellets with 295 Grain Power Belt AccuTip bullets and sighted it in with the open sights. Good to go after 6 shots. Killed 2 deer on out of state ML hunt. One deer was 100 yards when I shot and it dropped where it stood. Cleaning my rifle was a piece of cake too.

Sportsmans rendezvous on route 31 in flemington will have just about anything you need for your muzzleloader! As others have said, you can use what ever combination of powder and bullet you like(try a few most guns will shooter better with one then others)! I am not a fan of power belts past a 100 yards they don't pattern well! If your looking to shoot out too about 200 yards, my gun holds a sub 2" group with a 100 grains of triple 7 an a 200 grain T/C shockwave sabot!! Have fun

The best powder that is currently available is Blackhorn 209. There is nothing else that is it's equal.

The most accurate bullets that I have used so far are the Barnes T-EZ, but willing to try the Federal Trophy copper when I get some free time. SST's and Shockwaves also get good reviews.

BH209 works best with magnum 209 primers.
