As I said in your earlier thread... congratulations on an action packed day that you'll both remember for the rest of your lives....

We were taking turns looking when he says " oh my god there's a big buck!" I looked out of the blind window like "oh shit!" The deer was deer was 25 yds facing us and staring because my son spoke so loudly in his excitement. Before I could tell him what to do, I look over and my son already had him in the scope with the safety off. We worked on this procedure as soon as got in the blind, it was like autopilot. We had a stare down with this guy for a good ten minutes and then he decides to walk off to our left and stop, no shot with the brush. My son is insisting that he can clearly see the lungs through the scope. I kept telling him wait, wait ,wait. Then the buck decides to turn back to our right , into the shooting lane. I said "ok, right behind the shoulder, shoot it now". My son says "NOW!" I'm like "shoot it, shoot it!" He lets it rip and hit it high dropping it in its tracks. The deer managed to drag himself off about 20 yds so I grabbed a bolt and recocked the crossbow. We get out of the blind to finish it off and my sons second point blank shot turned off the boiler.

Wow! And a finishing shot to boot! Brave little hunter you're raising! Congrats to both of you!:triumphant:

I started deer hunting age 10. I didn't get my first with gun until 16 and it was a little spike! Way to go young man! A nice 7 pointer/! Your dad taught you well and HUGE congratulations... I think this buck needs to be mounted - at minimum euro but shoulder mount preferred!
