I use Remington in my son's 20ga 2 3/4" #3 BS. In my shotgun I use Federal 3 1/2" 00 BS.

You have to shoot a variety of sizes to see what size shoots the best.

Have to pattern your gun and find what it likes best. I just went through 4 different kinds of buckshot for my 11-87 and found the regular Federal 3" 00 buck shot best (not the copper plated). My 870 likes Remington 3" 000.

All depends on the gun.

I shoot a super black eagle w/ a pattern master extended range tube at 46 yards I put 14 pellets in a group the size of my hand w/ federal 3.5 00

I've tried different chokes and different loads.

I'm satisfied with 2 3/4" 00 feds and 00 Wins out of my brush gun with a cylander bore. I have a good 8" pattern out to 35 yards. I'm gonna pattern some 000 tomorrow out of both the brush barrel and the 28" field barrel.

I have a Mossberg 500.

I don't shoot buckshot beyond 30-35 yards, thats just me.

I think the all around most reliable shell for most situations is the 3" magnum 00 buck. The gun I use with that ammunition has a 28" barrel with full choke. I am 100% efficient with this setup. The gun is a pump action, but if your wealthier you can even use a semi-auto to place more rounds down field even faster. I try to use my slug gun when I'm in a stand because I like the stopping power, but when I'm stalking or out on opening day of 6 day firearm I use buckshot.
