You will have to see what yours like best with a particular projectile. Start at 70 grains of FFg and work up until you find what shoots best. Then try FFFg and see what that does. If your using PRB try .015 and .020 patches with a .490 ball. I spit patch for range and club shoots and use real mink oil (not the shoe stuff) very sparingly for hunting. No reason to go above 90 grains of either powder especially FFFg unless you like to waste powder. Stick with real BP, nothing comes close to it for consistency and reliable ignition.

Best of luck to you, half the fun of shooting traditional is working up a load. I have .50 that won't shoot a decent group with FFg but kicks ass with FFFg.
 
I have a box of hornady 240 sabots as well, and a few boxes of 250 gr shock waves. And some kickass 240 home casted maxi slugs that the guy made. I cant wait to get this bad boy barking!
That's the fun thing about smokesticks you can throw just about anything in there and like someone mentioned start with 70 grains of powder first then work your way up but usually 90 will do
