I got a call from a friend tonight with 400 acres in Calhoun Cty Illinois for lease for the upcoming bow season and 1st shotgun season. Im waiting on more details. 4 guys max, preferably one group. This is not an outfitted hunt. You will scout, hang your own stands, and drag your own deer out. You will provide your own meals and lodging. You may be able to bring a camper out, that will have to be worked out with the owner $2,000 each, hunt as much as you want. 140 inch minimum on antlered deer. If you hunt both the archery and shotgun season, you could potentially harvest 2 bucks. Anyone shooting under the minimum you are done and will not be back. PM me if you are interested

I would be interested but my judgement is not like a person whos actually seen multiple 140 deer.

This pretty much rules out anyone new with time and money.
Lots of guys especially here in Nj have a hard time judging deer on the hoof. Basically what I tell guys who hunt places where there is a minimum is , if you have to think about, its not big enough. Dont let minimums discourage you, these are trophy hunts, not meat hunts. The reason for the minimum is so guys dont go out to Illinois and shoot a deer they shoot in Nj. Also, I dont want it either, its in the same neighborhood as my farm. The area has the genetics and potential and produces Booners annually. When you see a good one, you'll know it

I hunted for a few years just north of this county.....typical mid-western whitetail country = big bucks!!!! Don't expect to see a big buck each time your out, expect that your chances of seeing one or getting one is greater then NJ.....You will see bucks that you wouldn't hesitate to kill here in NJ. This is a very good offer !!

We leased property in Calhoun County for two years
Same deal...DYI
Here are the two bucks I killed from that property, both from the same tree. The eight was killed on the second day of the first year and the ten was killed on the first day of the second year.
If work was better, I'd be all over this offer.

I used to hunt 400 acres off silver creek road for years. Who owns the property?
