New York state lease openings

I'm a member of lease in western NY which I and couple of guys from PA started in 2012. We have couple of openings this year, size of lease is 1400 acres prize is $350 for year which includes your spouse if she/him hunts and your kids up to 18 years of age.

Its a bit far from Jersey 350 miles from morris county where I live,for me personally its worth every penny.

We have from 20 to 25 members a year never more then 25 , land is mostly woods with clear cuts, we have three food plots on it...plenty of deer,bears and turkeys on property

Harvest report 2012 year when we started we had only 15 members back then we managed to take 2 eight point bucks, ten does and two bears
2013 we had 22 members which harvested five eight point bucks one ten pointer plus ten does and four bears

Last year we had a lot of snow on opening day and during whole season, we did harvest six bucks and seven does, none of bears were taken last season plenty of them seen before snow couple of them seen during season none with opportunity for shot.

Rifle season opens in middle of November runs for three weeks followed by muzzleloader which runs for two weeks after rifle...you can hunt on sunday there property is posted and gated with locks no issues with trespassing.

Cattaraugus County closest town Frewsburg , there is no cabin on lease plenty of cheap hotels around 15 min from lease you can bring camper/rv it can stay there whole year


The membership includes your immediate family meaning spouse, and children up to age 18 meaning no Guests allowed on property during hunting season .Guests are allowed during the off season for recreational purposes Camping and ATVs. The recreational period runs from Memorial Day until Labor day after that it's members only. Ladder stands, climbers and loc on's are allowed. Also ATVs may be used to get to and from your hunting area, road hunting and joy riding during any hunting season not permitted.

No guest allowed during hunting season, most of guys show up on opening weekend and that's it ,mostly no one during week days i think 1400 acres is plenty of hunting land for 20 members with spouses and kids

Bro 70 acres per man isn't including fields, safety zones, ponds, brooks, wet swamps or spots on the property that are plain less than desire able for deer. Let's say that puts you at 50, they're using rifles and that's crowded. You'd also as a new guy get what's left w most clubs. An older member Hunted a spot for years he's not giving it to you. First come first served that morning in my book but most clubs don't operate that way.
Many other places way closer w way less guys for either pennies or free. If it was me n it ain't id raise the dues to double n hope half of them didn't show up. I hunted a 1200 acre farm yesterday running n gunning. Was through it in a couple hours with no one else there. What if 19 other guys were there? You'd be walking through them or forced to sit on a stump listening to other guys pushing pin calls all morning. Can't believe you think 70 acres ain't crowded. No wonder I hear all the guys complain about people near them. If it works though God bless who hunts it. Hope they do well

My hunting club in jersey is roughly 30-35 acres per man at $1600/yr.

Differences:
-the land is spread on 18 different farms
-we don't hunt rifles
-we have a cabin that sleeps 20 guys
-children of members pay a few hundred, not free.


I feel like 70 acres per man is not bad at all, just stay home opening day and hunt the rest of the season when noone is around.. for that price you can't go wrong. I would join just for turkey season if it was closer...

I'm not saying it's bad for some guys. It is what it is. I'd not pay two bucks to hunt there. No dis to the club it's just what do I do for the second two minutes? Or what if I want to look at different trees? I don't hunt socially and not w crowds. To each his own

I spent some time between Warren, PA and Jamestown, NY back in the late 70's. It was a beautiful area back then and I'm willing to bet it is still that way today. You got me thinking. 1400 acres is quite a bit of property. Do you have maps of the lease boundaries?

It's still same nothing changed there ,that's why I'm hunting that far from NJ

I have a club that has an opening for owners/members. Sussex county, cabin on private lake, 5 owners/members you get to own 40 acres, Deeded hunting rights to about 1700 acres, 2 do not hunt. 85K buy in, about 2500 year each for expenses. Interested?

Didn't mean to hijack your post...but if you want close and quite, you pay for it.
