it was earthier 1989 or 90 . there was so many birds back then. you could have a square 40 ac farm and each side would have a different flock of birds. on the roost we would stand there listening at all the gobbles trying to decide which one sounded bigger. boy do I miss those days. that year I killed my first bird. my uncke was calling for me. we had a group of 8 or so gobblers come in, he whispered for me to shoot. I pulled the trigger and the gun went click. we both looked at each other and the birds started to put. my uncle said pump quick and shoot. I did exactly that and didn't miss. I will never forget that day
 
1987 senior year in h.s. someone with an old lynch jet slate called one in for me......I can still see the 3 jakes roosted in the same tree ....thanks willard
