For those that hunt from a stand, what do you bring to your stand for a day of hunting and how do you get it there? Do you have a pack with a bunch of stuff or do you carry a few essentials in your pockets? What are your absolute must have items?

Usually in mine its toilet paper, extra zip lock bags, some paracord, water, extra hat, a snack, deer gutting tools, niwalker crazy flashlight, thermacell (early season), chem hand warmers. I just haul it in my back and climb up with it. If I'm in my climber i'll haul it up on my haul line instead of wearing it up.

I also wear a fanny pack with some other items... hunting license, tree stand fall recovery strap, extra tree step, pen, extra zip locks, 5hr energy drink, maybe a granola bar, grunt tube, xbow cocker, car keys, extra batteries, a couple knives, head lamp, backup flashlight, etc..

It really depends on what time of year, your anticipated sit time, and the weather. If its colder I'll bring extra layers to throw on. Even when its early season, you can walk in and get sweated up on an afternoon sit and get REAL cold when the sun starts to set. Having a hat or a light jacket really can make those sits comfortable...

I use a large fanny pack. Waterproof with double bottle holders on the outside. Large and smaller compartments. Have necessary equipment such as knives toilet paper food etc... And swap out seasonal stuff for archery, muzzy or shotgun. When I climb the tree I take it off and strap it around the trunk, putting it on my non shooting side in case a deer shows up behind the tree. With the pack closed, I even have a flat top to lay stuff on like a call or food. You'll find what works for you with trial and error.

Starbucks espresso in a can among other things....cause even though i hate starbucks the coffee is good , its in a small can & i like having anothrr coffee during my sit. Also a decent amount of food so i can sit all day if big boy close or during prime rut, etc. One less excuse to leave for lunch

and of corse....Ozonics.
Funny!

Thanks all. I'm currently looking for a small pack and am leaning toward a Camelbak of some sort. Something with a bladder but I can hunt and hike it comfortably. I'm not tied to it, however and am certainly taking suggestions as well as what to pack which is the reason for this thread.

depends on the time of the year. early season I carry a fanny pack with a bottle of water, some paper towels, my headlamp and flashlight, extra batteries, ziplock bags (for the heart and liver) and my thermacell. my knife is on my belt. once it starts to get rutty, I add my deer call and my pack rack for rattling. on the coldest days, i'll go to the backpack and add some handwarmers, an extra hat, maybe a thermos with some tea/coffee/soup. I also keep allen wrenches in my bow case in case the bow needs an adjustment when I get to a hunting spot. I leave the fox pee/doe pee in the truck so I don't put it in the bag and accidentally spill it all over everything.

These guys covered it pretty well. Some things Ill add: BACK UP RELEASE, also for tracking are bright eyes and orange ribbon tape so you dont get turned around, if you have to back out, mark shot location, blood etc. Havnt had to use these but its a just in case item. I use a medium sized cheap field and stream back pack year round. I am thinking if I can just get a decent sized fanny pack and use that for bow hunting and use the bag for gun season...

Things I keep in my pockets, not in my pack, wind checker, tinks spray doe-p or 69 during the rut(these can also be used as wind checkers), knife on my belt which I feel is good to have handy whether you are flat footed or suspended from a tree stand fall, ya never know

good ones. I always have a backup release and some orange ribbon in the bag too.
Mobile phone is needed in case you shoot a deer and require assistance from njh for blood sign or tracking...
classic njh.

Topher, To be Honest, I take to much crap ! Harness, Cell & emergency battery to charge the cell. Water(always have 2 bottles in stand, when it freezes I carry in each time), snacks, range finder when bow hunting, binoculars, rain gear if I know there might be rain. Most Important thing though, " tell someone where you are going" ! Otherwise we'll be posting what a good guy you were!
