Seriously, this much over jury duty? How many of you trying to get out of it have actually gone through the process and been selected? It's boring as anything, but it's not hard labor. You will have a chance to tell the judge if being selected would cause a hardship. Many did and were excused. Have any of you ever been sued? I have. and the jury was made up of a mix of people. They took the task seriously. Like it or not, its our responsibility.

You still don't get it. Either that or you are intentionally being hardheaded. Maybe both.
You wouldn't want all lawyers on a jury any more than you would want all truck drivers (or all *fill in the blank*) on a jury.
Jury's are scapegoats so the outcome of verdicts isn't a infraction or responsibility of the law.when shit goes awl they have people to point the finger at.if the law is responsible enough to try someone or convict someone or threaten someone with a warrant they should be responsible enough to decide on the verdict not some joe bag of donuts off the street.

It was about me getting out of it so I didn't miss time from work and miss pay

Just for clarification:

The Constitution does make mention of juries in a couple of places guaranteeing that you get one and that they are impartial. But the “peers” part? That ain’t there and never was, and for good reason, because how do you even define a “peer”? What criteria are to be used? And how can I even have peers if I’m the most awesome, handsomest person in the universe? It’s an ontological nightmare, and is therefore not mentioned in the Constitution. It’s also why rape trial juries aren’t stocked with other rapists.

It's like 'separation of church and state. Not there

When they interview you don't say anything stupid or racist .Because you will be charged for it .Just giving you a heads up.
I talk deep and slow like a death metal record played backwards and I told the man I can't make a unbiased decision and I have faxed work letter to the court.i won't pay attention anyway I only think of my kids steelheads stripers bowhunting and porn anyway

Unfortunately this country is "the land of ME now." We are screwed!

"God help us all" if I am allowed to say that still? The only thing I can say that I am thankful for about this thread is that I am older now and I am hoping I won't live long enough to see the worst of what this kind of thinking will do to this once great country.

I would like to thank the men and women that are still willing to do the right thing for this country no matter how large or how small. They are the ones that understand that it isn't just about them. [up]

If it was about me i would love to sit in the courtroom and hear the bullcrap....it's not it's about 3 kids that need me to keep the wheels turning ya dig what I'm saying and the problem with the country is there's not enough people like me with the same frame of mind there's just to many sheep that abide by the same old adage that doesn't work and fails miserably.INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.one day there will be a president like me i hope for it because people like me make sense and have logical knowledge while others are force-fed garbage and false prophecies and they believe them

I want to be making some money for my time just like everyone else who is there except the defendant. We definitely would have a lot more out of court settlements & less BS lawsuits if the loser had to pay the jury for it's time. And just maybe if that were the way it is, we wouldn't have such a police state wasting tax money on police, judges, jailers, prosecutors, court clerks, etc. for minor behavior violations like marijuana sales & possession, etc. ( I know they don't have jury trials) & maybe prosecutors would be more inclined to plea bargain rather than prosecute if the defendants started asking for jury trials in those cases & the government would be paying wages to jurors. I'm sure the budget would have room to pay jurors to prosecute real criminals with the huge savings from less arrests & trials combined with lower government staff levels & benefits more in line with the public sector. Or how about judges & top officials simply making less money & the jury more? If they don't like, they can always join the rest of us in the private sector.

I don't want to get into a pissing match with you, but you probably have already spent more time on this site typing about how to get out of jury duty than it would have taken you if you actually did serve.

Thank you for the civil response. It is appreciated, and rare for the internet nowadays.

A few more, and SG will have this thread surpass all of his "cooler" forum's threads combined.

Ironically enough, the people who are really proud that they can outsmart low-level court employees, are the ones that you would never want on a jury anyway.
I was honest with the courts I told them the truth you wouldn't want me to be on a jury and I have to work no work no pay no pay my bills and kids suffer unless I go on welfare and unemployment which is against my work ethic
