Your fellow citizen's right to a trial by a jury of his/her peers trumps your desire to not be inconvenienced. We live in too selfish a society to rely on a volunteer jury system. Also, the system requires EVERYONES' participation in order to get a true cross-section of society in a jury box. Thus, our system makes jury duty...well....a duty. As with all other aspects of life, there are consequences for breaching a duty.

I think it's selfish the jury isn't getting paid anything perhaps the jury should get paid some of the attorneys and prosecutors salary then the playing field would be leveled being a citizen has to take time off to make decisions for you guys.did yoh ever think of that.i know if I hired you for a lumper to unload my freight I would pay you....doesn't sit well

Whatever -[eyeroll] [confused] [confusedagain] I guess you would prefer a system where your fate is put in the hands of a possibly corrupt or politicly motivated judge rather than a jury of your peers.

Good luck with it

I bet Everytime you write a deposition make call or have to file a suit at the courthouse you charge your clients a nice lump some right? But it's fair to threaten the private citizen with a warrant if they don't do what you want them to? Pretty funny how that works like I've stated a broke system doesn't sound good to pay the jury

Sure. I charge for my services just as you charge your clients for whatever you are hauling/loading. However, I am a US citizen first, and when called for jury duty, I go and get paid the same $5 as everyone else SERVING jury duty. Yes, lawyers get called for jury duty too.

Now that makes sense to have lawyers and panel members become jury.they are experienced and familiar with the procedures.i cannot do your job and I wouldn't expect you to do mine

I am a vet and served.i respect your profession there are many good cops on the streets without a doubt however throwing constitutional statements into the equation is Ludacris the same people you work for as we speak and the same people you vote for make a mockery out of the Constitution and please inform me the last time any us soldier died for the bill of rights?Dear lord please excuse smoking gun[eek][confused] .........

Well then have fun at jury duty. Some of us have no time to spend on figuring out if tyrone is quilty of posession of maryjane.
Yea poor Tyrone. Or there could also be the case of a gun owner like anyone of us who gets jammed up over New jerseys crazy gun laws. Like making an unreasonable deviation.

You still don't get it. Either that or you are intentionally being hardheaded. Maybe both.
You wouldn't want all lawyers on a jury any more than you would want all truck drivers (or all *fill in the blank*) on a jury.

Laws are laws I have no sympathy for people who don't know the law.i travel all over the north east I better know what road or bridge to travel on or I end up with stiff penalty and no tracking out of it
