Sure they can be morally opposed to it... We can be morally opposed to any amendment BUT we STILL have to honor them!
Your response doesn't fit in the context of rights and freedoms as opposed to laws. Rights are guaranteed freedoms. I'm not sure how your reference to the 2nd and 6th amendment applies....your response suggests the OP should be morally obligated to serve on jury duty.

people have the Right to be tried by a jury of their Peers per the 6th....We as American citizens in order to continue those rights are part of the jury process. When we shake that process for our own selfish needs we continue the erosion of those rights.

Self employed, and people needing to work to pay thier bills without being compensated for it should be excused. There are many corporations, businesses, and companies that will pay you what you would normally make with a jury excuse without using vacation time. Caretakers and hardship cases should always be excused. Forcing someone to sit in a jury box while he/she is losing money is not doing your "civic duty" while the Judge, attorneys, cops, and defense witnesses are all being paid to be there.

If I could bill the court $125.00 an hour like I do my customers all day, I wouldn't have any problem with jury duty every day lol. The defendant if found guilty should be responsible for compensation to the jurors imo. If not found guilty the procecutors pay should be split amongst the jury.

I assume youre an American citizen right? So you do know people died so that we may have these RIGHTS... Its called the 6th Amendment. You cant support the 2nd amendment with supporting the rest.... So I take it you only pick and choose those that apply only to you? Hows that work for you?
Me and you have had this convo before as a matter of fact I am a vet and served.i respect your profession there are many good cops on the streets without a doubt however throwing constitutional statements into the equation is Ludacris the same people you work for as we speak and the same people you vote for make a mockery out of the Constitution and please inform me the last time any us soldier died for the bill of rights? I believe it was ww2 the following conflicts have been nothing but political greed and ran by corporations please learn more of the articles and amendments that adhere to every amendment in the Constitution instead of the stuff you want to read.yes I said it I am the big bad nonamerican because I know for a fact the country constitution and laws have been made a mockery by greed some of us aren't that stupid or gullible

Politics lawyers prosecutors are all employees of evil they lie and cheat I will not condone or partake to their agenda I have things better to do like taking care of my family instead of getting involved in lies and corruption and incriminating someone that I know nothing about

Smoking Gun, assless chaps almost made me puke thinking about that! [wallmad]
What size to chaps go up too? I may have to shop at big and tall chap store![rofl]
You are going to go there and suffer like the rest of us! [rofl]

How can you get out of juror duty? I got a dumb letter in the mail to go for jury duty in mays landing for criminal court I have to figure out a way to get out of it I have no time for nonsense and I need to make money by working not missing time sitting in a court room any suggestions will help I'm sure maybe I'll go online and answer the questions in retarded fashion they'll probably think I'm nuts I think I'm going to tell them I dressed up as a gestapo officer and went into a bar mitzvah
Wow brother this thread has taken a lot of turns some funny, some STUPID and some annoying bs from kids, I would have never thought it could go this long.

Wow, that is a solution and I don't think we would have to worry about too many trials ...because there wouldn't be any Prosecutors or Criminal cases trial being conducted. Average A/P in Essex co is making 72.5 K all spelled out in state law based on the class of the county. I would rather see a Earned Tax Credit system in place to compensate jurors. No body here is even addressing Civil cases...who would you expect to pay in those?

As others have said, this is a very sad thread. If you don't think that our right to a trial by jury is a good thing, you need to seriously research the alternatives. Our jury system is quite unique in the world we live in. Most other countries have moved away from the jury system, and I think it would be a huge mistake if the ignorant words of those in this thread were used to end the system.

Remember that when you are summoned for jury duty, it isn't just criminal court. You could be chosen to be the factfinder in any number of cases, whether it be personal injury, contract, intellectual property.....etc (including criminal). The folks involved in those legal actions are all folks that, one way or another, have found themselves in the Court system. It’s a great honor that our system puts their legal rights in your hands. It should be taken seriously. It must be taken seriously for this process to work.

I am an attorney and have tried several jury cases to verdict. In each of those cases, the juries took their roles very seriously. I believe that if we were able to question them after the trial, they would have said that they enjoyed the process and were honored to be given such a big responsibility. The jury system is one of the things that makes this country great. Personally, I wouldn't be in this line of work if we didn't have the jury system. It’s sad to see that some are willing to throw a significant right...a freedom...out the window.

Yes sir. It works. F jury duty. Aint got time for that crap. Its not my duty, its not my prob, and i give no shiz's about the thug.
Exactly the justice system is a joke.all they want a jury for is so the technicality and verdict doesn't fall on the justice system they use a jury as a scapegoat.the system is a joke.theres no need to have a common citizen make a decision on such matters if he or she is clueless or doesn't know anything of the case except for what's fed to them by the attorneys. There's no ramifications for anything the penalties aren't even harsh enough for the guilty they let people walk on bail and probation.if it was up to me that electric chair would be sizzling every hour with pedophiles murdered and rapist that are guilty.they spend so much taxpayers dollars in stupid shit that doesn't work it's been a joke for years.hopefully alot of people will wakeup and realize that instead of buying into the system hook line and sinker.if they have hard evidence and know for a fact the suspect did such a act they don't need people to make the decisions they should be making the decisions it's their ball game.they just change the rules during the middle of the game and have it so twisted and screwed up.i got out of it I'm happy and content and when it comes again I will be prepped and ready to do the same

I've taken great honor by serving my country in the finest military branch and by paying taxes that are spent foolishly and I take it as honor being selected to do jury but feel much better and enjoying my freedom by not doing it and I also demise the fact the system threatened me with a warrant if I didn't respond.THATS A ACT OF FACISM
