So Friday I practiced climbing a tree at work on my tree stand (never used one before) and all seemed well - except I never actually sat in the top part. Then Saturday I'm out on my new climber, and I get my feet to about 12' off the ground, and start to sit in the seat. The footrest shakes a little and drops about 3" - Just enough for me to start becoming religious again.

Is that normal? I had the top seat part leveled when weighted, but the foot part angled downward slightly. Do I have to compensate for that on the ground by having the foot platform angled up a bit (That the tree is a little skinnier higher up) ?

Is there some way to mate the two together one you're up there?

Here's the stand : Climber

very easy put your bottom piece angle more so when the tree gets smaller it evens out i also as a backup when i get to desired height use a strap on my bottom piece foe xtra security the best thing to do is pratice then pratice more

That is just about the same 1 I have and it has a string from the top halfto the bottom to hold the 2 together. Also the top has the locking strap so when ya get to your height you lock the strap in place. Also my bottom always feels a bit slanted not sure why but it hasnt moved yet, just make sure you have a good bite on the tree!!!!!!!!

Remember that most trees tend to get skinnier the higher up you go so you must over compensate for this when setting your stand up on the base.

yeah, use the nylon strap to secure the stand once you've climbed to the right height, and use that bungee cord to connect the two pieces before you start climbing so when your bottom half drops down accidentally you wont be stranded

That's the stand I have I only fell out one time.Slant like everyone says and make sure your pins are in and locked. I carry extra pins just incase. I also bought pins that are longer at Home Depot make sure you pull on stand to make sure the cable islocked in. I feel better in my ladder stand.

Well the bungee on mine is for your feet to lock into the straps! There is a green or black nylon line that has a locking clip use hat to lock the line around the tree and pull tight. I have the booklet I can email you the instructions if you would like. I have the last years model but my buddy has yours and they are the exact same!!!PM me if you want them

practice practice practice... It takes experience and trial and error to figure out how your stand deals with differnt tree shapes. You should always start out with both sections of your stand slanted up, how much depends on the tree. Don't forget to tie the sections together with a length of rope that lets you get back on the bottom section. It sucks to get stuck in the top section and have to wait for help, just ask my dad.
