Have a few pics of deer from. Bow shots healed over. Overall this kind of post hurts us more then anything. Bad for the cause. Just my opinion .

I think my shoe is untied

I posted this same quote in a separate thread about a different situation: "You can definitively say those deer were hit with buckshot? Bet on your life definitively?" I am not a fan of buckshot. I haven't used it for many years and I prolly never will again. I think the single-projectile makes you more focused on your target. With that said, this was a stupid post...................

Any weapon in the wrong hands is bad. You can't blame the means. Blame the user. I have used buckshot effectively for 20 years. That means knowing what ammo and choke produces the best pattern. The two biggest deer I killed were with buckshot at a distance of about 50 yds, with ONE SHOT. An irresponsible hunter shooting slugs can wound deer as much or worse than buckshot. That also applies to M/L and Archery. I use slugs when I can anticipate shots over 50 yds. If less, I will choose buckshot every time.

biggest buck i ever killed with a shotgun had a broad head in its back. killed does that have been hit by cars. saw a slug just under the skin on a bucks head. wtf is the point of this . seems like someone upset Their deer got shot. maby you need to ask for a confirmation #

archer36-- you are spot on. It is the user that does not know their guns limitations and have zero respect for the animals they hunt. It is not whether slugs are more effective then buckshot or vice versa. They both are deadly if the user knows the limitations and respects those limitations. People are always saying things about gun control freaks blaming guns for killing people. But isn't OP doing the same thing in this post by blaming buckshot instead of the user? Jack, I understand being upset about having wounded deer because of some bad apples that hunt near you but it is not the buckshots fault.

Im not a fan of buck shot either. I feel there is more of a chance at wounding deer with a spray of pellets than a single projectile.
Slugs can wound deer but I think 1 slug instead of multiple buck shot pellets would be less likely to wound deer. I know some states in the midwest dont allow buck shot. This is Nj. We takem any way we can get em those pesky abundant deer
Buck shot is illeagal in NY.

When buckshot was the only game in town it wasn't a stretch to see a number of deer, mostly does, laying dead after 6 day. It has its place and I still use it in the thick stuff. As usual, is the responsible hunter who has to hear it because of the reckless.

I'd rather use slugs with a shotgun or a muzzy, prefer the muzzy. One hole, less meat bloodshot, and if well placed all you have to do is gut and drag no tracking. While butchering you don't have a lot of waste. JMO. Back in the times people used to pour hot wax into the shells to hold the buckshot together. There was even a paragraph in the compendium stating it was illegal.

When buckshot was the only means of ammo for deer in NJ, it was no where as effective as it can be today. Special chokes, premium shot, 3" and 3.5" magnums etc. make it a very effective means of dispatching a deer at moderate ranges.

If you use buckshot in a effective and non careless manner it can be very deadly. Every deer i have shot with buckshot have all dropped in their tracks because i pattern my gun and i know what the max distance for my gun is. The buck in the pic was shot at 50 yards and he never moved a muscle. I had 11 pellets of 00 buck in the vital area.

This post is great. I bet freaking kehoe or whatever her name is loving all the quotes she is getting right from the horses mouth.
. You people need to lighten up. I am not afraid of the antis like so many of you are. I would rather have antis living around me than slob brown it's down hunters. We are not allowed to discuss the jackwagons in "our" crowd?

. And this post is absolutely NOT about you. You are responsible and know your weapon and your range. You probably never uttered the words "if it's brown it's down" either!
