Scottman500 ..I would of fired a warning shot first..not just shoot it first..if it kept climbing different story..that wasnt the ?

Im not one of them jms88..I hunted zone 4 my whole life had many bear encounters...closest turkey hunting ....a big sow with 3 cubs walked a big blow down I was in..she got withen 10 feet as the cubs ran up a tree..she stood up on her hinds and I fired my gun 5 feet in front of her she ran about 50 yrds and her cubs ran down the tree and followed her. I said if the warning shot didnt work I would of killed it like this guy did

If he felt threatened then he did the right thing.[up] As far as I'm concerned an attacking bear, curious bear, friendly bear, teddy bear, dancing bear or for whatever other reason it is knowingly 3 feet from you, should be culled.

Personally when I go gun hunting or bow hunting I always have extra rounds or blunt tips. I have never had this type of encounter myself. But if I am 15' in a tree and a bear starts to climb, I have some time. I would first try to scare it, maybe shoot near it or into it. But if this doesn't scare it then I would kill it.
