Alec lives about 15 Minutes from me. He sees the bear over population as I do and we both laugh about the anti bear hampers who report there displeasure in the hunt from there shot hole postage stamps in edison. Super annoying. Really glad you guys put a hurting on them alec. Congrats again to you and Ur family for doing your part.

Congrats on the bear man. I was wondering when you were going to post it on here. You aren't kidding about the work part, dragging bear is awful. Skinning and butchering is greasy to say the least. Glad to see you knocked one down this year after pursuing them the past few seasons.

Just curious, are these your family's 3 bears?

They are not, BUT that's weird you posted that picture because when we were dragging those bears out, the infamous Susan Kehoe, YES, Susan Kehoe, stopped and was harassing us for about 5 minutes, demanding our CID numbers, license plate numbers, names, addresses, ect. .

I told her a few things that wasn't all that kind and she was on her way.

No there not but if they were it wouldn't change anything, this is a MANAGEMENT HUNT. First clean shot on any bear you get you TAKE. Population needs to be reduced end of story.

Dude thats awesome. I hunt bears in maine evey year. I'm from SJ but I think I'm going to do some research and give NJ a shot next year. Hunting (spot and stalk) a predator is so much more fun to me than sitting in a tree stand. It's even better that you guys go to share a super successful day and celebrate it together. Great job[up]

Alec I am so happy for you and your family ! Congrats on a job well done. Please don't take this as me being a jerk but I need to point something out in your awesome story. Please please please never click your safety off until you have positively identified your target. I had a close friend who was killed on a Vermont moose hunt in a very similar fashion because a hunter heard ruling in the reeds and thought for sure it was a moose. In all the excitement the hunter tripped and sent a 308 round through the brush and into my friends chest. You seem like a great guy and someone who loves our sport. We need more young guys like you. Again Great Job.

I am VERY sorry to hear that! i can not agree more, but i wasnt going to lie about my experience. There was nobody else around me within 200 yards, and I knew it was either a BIG deer or a bear so I was preparing early.
I am a very responsible hunter and at the time, within "a minute", adrenaline took over and I felt that the quickest decision was too act early before an opportunity of a lifetime could pass up, so I clicked the safety off and walked closer to the noise.
Barrel was pointed at the ground, in a safe direction just incase something catastrophic happened.
