After growing severe interest in bear hunting since the last bear hunt in '05, I started my quest again in 2010.
I hunted everyday during the 6 day shotgun season in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

After playing cat and mouse for 4 years, I finally connected with a Jersey bear on the first day of this 2014 6 day season.

Opening morning, me, my dad, my brother, my buddy harrison and my cousin were out on a nice piece of property where it was loaded with bears.

Me and my buddy Harrison, were hunting on a mountain top, and around 7:40, we hear several shots ring off. Next thing I know I get a call from my dad saying that all three of them shot bears, "my dad, my brother and cousin".

I have to admit... I was a little jealous.

After checking in the bears and what not, we decide to do a small drive after.

I opted to do the drive along with my buddy. As I'm walking down a hillside and come to a swamp full of cattails, I hear a very LOUD rustling noise for a split second to my right. I got a little freaked out because I was only 15 yards away and could not see ANYTHING where the noise was coming from.
I click the safety off on the 870 superslug, and walk a little closer, out of nowhere, a bear literally, "well seemed like", it popped out of the ground, I was so shocked that I could not see this thing, but the sow hauled ass up a hillside.
I actually back up a little bit, take aim, and let one rip, BANG! first shot goes where I was aiming. The bear stumbles a little bit, but continued to run unphased! I shoot again! BANG! the bear looked as if it just tripped when the second shot hit. It gets back up to my amazement, and continues to trot up the hill, it stops one more time to see what is actually going on, BIG MISTAKE. The third shot rings off echoing the swamp bottom and that's where her last and final resting place was stationed.

I am very happy about my first Jersey bear as it has been #1 on my bucket list as I'm a huge fan of the sweet taste of bear meat produces, and who wouldn't want a nice rug in the bedroom?
All in all, it was a good 6 day, and being this was my first experience with bear/s, I do not think I'd be harvesting another jersey bear, unless it's a potential record! They are a lot of work!
