My son has a 2000 F150. Rust bucket. Gas tank fell out, brake and trans lines rusted out, did I mention RUST. I could go on and on with the problems from rust.
But my other son has a 2001 F250 with no rust. Go figure.

Really? What did you own? I've owned 4 nissans and an infiniti and never had any major issues whatsoever
'87 Pathfinder, engine would just cut out at highway speeds (since day 1, typical f'n dealer/service response, could not duplicate!), suspension squeaks..."yeah, we hear it but don't know how to fix it"...WTF?!

2000 Xterra, dumped the p.o.s. to get an FJ Cruiser. Xterra had less than 100K miles, had to replace front pads, calipers, and rotors 3 times! Rust? Had to zip tie the radiator back in since radiator support was rotted away and radiator was falling out. Got recalled for fuel sending unit defect, dealer had to replace tank and straps because they couldn't remove tank or replace sending unit/pump due to corrosion..."we can't explain it, we've never seen one corrode so bad"! Frame was starting to crumble from rust 16 months ago so it was time to off the p.o.s., got $1600 trade on a '07 Toyota FJ with only 23K miles on it. So far, so good...fingers crossed.

Re:Fords, have owned 4, one, a F-150 4X4, ordered new from the factory in '77...all were J.U.N.K.!

I always wanted a Subaru Baja for a hunting truck.
Like a Subaru Brat? my buddy had one of those back in the day, it had a lot of air time. We used to jump that thing all over the place.

A regular two-wheel drive pickup can get pretty far down a bad road, but for a modern hunting vehicle, four-wheel drive (4x4) is probably the way to go. In deep mud or snow, four wheel drive can be a lifesaver. So all of the hunting trucks we will consider must have four wheel drive. and i have Toyota Tacoma Double Cab PreRunner 4x4 Shortbed.. so far is great.
