More than 1/2 the time spent on a rug is spent. on the hide work...(stretching hide,felt border,cotton under liner)

so cost wise I don't think you would be saving a bunch.

Fall bear season is a long ways off plenty of time to change her mind.

Also consider a closed mouth she may be more prone to go for that.


Also a flat tanned skin hung on the wall or thrown over a couch or banister looks nice.
 
When I got my bear in Alaska I called my wife, she said no open mouth. I was fine with this. The taxidermist goofed up and did an open mouth. He lowered the price substantially due to the mistake. Wife was not too happy, she was with me when I met with the taxidermist..... She wants another rug and suggested the decapitated idea. I said no, I won't disrespect the animal like this. We agreed that when I get my next bear it will be tanned and that's it.
