I took off all week next week in hopes of gun hunting but still don't have my FID. I met a good guy on here that was willing to loan me his shot guns to gun hunt, but thanks to NJ's ridiculous gun laws, I can't borrow them since he would have to meet me every day in the woods to loan them to me. So my question is, who is bow hunting net week? I hunt z19 and I expect that to be driven like crazy.

I would just borrow the gun and hunt. Don't do anything that would cause the cops to check who owns the gun. I have plenty of long guns that I bought in cash with no paperwork. It's only handguns they make a big deal about

If I am interpreting our convoluted regs correctly, since I only have a bow license, and a Z47 permit, and a buck tag, I can only take a doe during 6 day since it states on Pg 34 that a buck taken during 6 day must use the firearm tag to check it in. So I guess if I hunt at all next week I hope the drivers send a doe my way that I can kill while they are doing their "yo buck" thing.

ok so ill be in z19 bow hunting. have a permit for 19 and it gos right throw gun week. don't need the gun tag to bow hunt if you have a permit. how do they know if you own the gun or not. do you have to carry your shot gun receipt in the woods?

Since my bears are Nocturnal, I'll be out with my crossbow. I've got a nice buck showing up on a piece that I have but can only use a bow there. Good luck.

in z19 permit runs throw 6day. so as long as you buy the doe permit and buck you shoot either one.

Bowhunters may take antlered deer with their
bow during the Six-day Firearm season, pro-
vided that they have a current and valid fire-
arm license in addition to an archery license,
or have an All-around Sportsman License. Bow
hunters who bag an antlered deer during the
Six-day Firearm Season with their bow must
use the Harvest Report Stub for the Six-day
season from their firearm or All-around
Sportsman License only.

I don't have the compendium at hand but I believe that's only valid in zones that permit bow has already ended.

yes I did see that, but if your zone's permit bow runs throw 6 day. you can use your permit tag. permit bow in z19 runs from nov 1- dec 24. most zones don't. but 19 does.

OMG, I hate the way NJ writes these regs, it makes it so hard to be sure of what is legal and what isn't, they are as clear as mud! The only way to be safe is to buy every license, permit, and tag that exists, and have a good lawyer on call!!!

I will be bow hunting z19 on Sundays only until winter bow. I had shot raining down on me in my tree stand last Saturday. It's hard dealing with bird hunters in the small area where I hunt. Not taking the chance during firearm season.
