Hillsdale ? come on ? that was a quiet little town when I was growing up . There's no deer in that town. is there ?

I live in River Vale and there are deer everywhere. I have a 150 inch buck that comes through my yard about 3 times a week all during the daylight hours

I was on Gruman Court last week and saw a big 10 point standing in my customer's back yard. He was somewhere in the 140's or so.

As a kid growing up in Hillsdale I remember other kids telling tales of their fathers hunting in those areas back in the day. I guess in the 1940's 50's ? We never saw deer there in the 70's. Upper saddle river & saddle river you would see the occasional deer while passing through.

There were folks who small game hunted in these towns up until the early 60's. (There was an article this summer in either Community Life or the Pascack Press that had pictures from the Bergen County Historical Society showing Hillsdale residents small game hunting in the late 50's.
The Department of Community Affairs in Bergen County controls the permits to deer hunt on Demarest Farm, but I believe it's a third-party that does the control hunt.
Deer poaching has always been prevalent here, now more than ever.
