I had one sneak to within 10 yards of while in a ground blind the other day. Have trail cam picks of them going through my brothers yard in Wall. When the fire whistle goes off in Farmingdale they all start howling. And don't leave a deer over night 50/50 they will find it for you. I lost the hams off a big buck in 09 in just 3 hours. Yes they are every where...I have killed 2 during gun season have had one snarl at me as I was trying to load my gun to kill it. They are really a problem in zone 18 Colliers mills too and just about everywhere.

They are all over NJ my experiences are in Ocean. Monmouth, Atlantic Counties along with Fort Dix Since I work there. I have seen them in Brick in the earl AM, Wall Twp.., Colliers Mills and the FAA property while hunting. The Most over run place I have seen is in Manchester (Whiting) Zone 18 you watch the deer totals go down in that zone and it's not from over hunting just too many coyotes. NJ deer totals are being hurt from the not so little shits..

The north end of Brigantine has quite a few. I used to get the beach permit there for many years. Those things are brazen bait and fish thieves. You see them almost every trip there.

In the woods I've heard them many times but usually only see them in the dusk or dawn hours

Are coyotes nocturnal ? Ive never seen on in the woods or ever in person
Coyotes are more active most of the time when no one is around. If that's night than so be it. Jan/Feb they start their "rut" and can be more visible in daylight but not typically in open areas though anything is possible. If they're around you'll hear em barking/howling at night for sure.
