a friend a few years ago shot the biggest buck of his life there. he shot the buck it went down , he was so happy he call his brother who is hunting with him and was telling him about the buck . when all of the sudden the buck gets up and runs away . sad it was never recovered. true story

I hunted there couple years ago.had 3 bucks the first day and no doe tagged then I had does the next day that were looking at the idiot walking to me at 7am then the last day I missed one about 80 yds away but there's deer there just tough hunting

Far from cleaned out. You can hunt some of the biggest mature whitetail in this state in high point. They are unpressured and respond to scents calling etc like deer actually should. This time of year you can hunt stokes right across the street and have the same opportunity when the big boys leave there sanctuary of the park in search of love. Rubs in there twice the size of Chris christies thighs and scrapes bigger then his dinner plate. The past probably 10years attendance for the hunt has been down over 60% most of the hunters are locals with the exception of some south jerz guys that are not comfortable in bear country. Last year there was 2 guys who wouldn't walk in until well past daylight and sat about 80 yards from the truck. After chatting with them a bit I found out they were terrified of bears. The next day I brought them a map with deer detailed instructions on where to go and he mustered up the courage to head in about 1/4 mile and shot a heavy horned 9 point. He gutted it while his buddy covered him with the 50 cal. Hahaha

I saw that happen once on a muzzy hunt too. We were standing around the deer talking and it gets up and staggers away. Luckily the other guy reloaded after the shot and was ready to finish it off.

hunting there has drooped off because of lack of deer. plain and simple , it was good when they first opened it up . than every year less action . i hunted their and had no luck, the ranger there told me at the time they were having a problem with poachers.
