This thread is not aimed at any one one here, This is just to prove a point on Hunting so others can learn.

In the p [no swearing please] there was threads about how unlimited deer zones was killing of the herds. To prove my point that you can't kill unlimited deer in any zone, I came up with this.

I hunt zone 10 ( unlimited DOEs ) so far this year I only killed 1 DOE. the year before that I only killed 4 deer ( 5 for the one that got away from me ), the year before that 5 deer taged & baged. There is more deer in my area, but for now they are winning. MY point is one person can't take unlimited deer in any season. If they drop ( the NJF&G ) the EAB/BAD we won't have to wait for the anti's to take away hunting... We will kill the deer off Ourselves.

DOEs give birth to a avg of 3 fawns a year. over 60% will be a DOE. Thats a 2 to 1 turn around. Save a Herd, Shoot a DOE...Kill A Herd, Shoot a Buck

White-tailed deer mate in November in the northern parts of their range and in January or February in the southern parts of their range. The female has one to three fawns after about six months after mating. Fawns are reddish-brown at birth with white spots that help camouflage them. They can walk at birth and forage for food a couple of days later. They are weaned at about six weeks.

the average size is 2 fawns not 3 although 3 is not uncommon

a 50/50 male/female fawn production
if a there is a bad winter it is a fact that the does body will consume the buck fawn before the doe fawn..i shoot does and have no problem with people shooting does but realize the more you shoot the more the herd thins out.(ie) less deer..why do you think the state went to baiting and unlimted does.look at pa now they went to doe day during the gun season so now all the out of staters who come for the regular season can shoots atleast a doe.now evertbody is in a huff because the deer herd is alot less than what it used to be and getting worse

All the seasons combined don't take as many as vehicles that hunt 24 x 7.

1.5 is BS so keep believing it. The best biologists are the hunters who get to see what happens. What you see is what you get if you pay attention. They lump the state together and their are different areas that different things happen in and are simply not the same.[smirk]

i dont understand this statement? seriously, im not being a wise ass. can u explain?
most hunters on here and talking to them online or in person, Talk about shooting bucks..this rack...that rack..those racks.... so going by the talk from hunters if EAB?BAD are taken away there will be more bucks killed... Less breedable bucks next year... more and more Y-bucks will be shot..."If I don't shoot it....someone else will". Manage the herds to give Us the best the buck can be... Brings more money in to this State.

I don't think that the QDM in PA is ruining the herd. Sure there are fewer deer, but they are older and bigger. You have to tak into account the health of the ecosystem. The number of deer that were inhabiting most areas of PA were destroying the forests and negatively affecting other species. Once you are in that situation, populations peak and crash.
