I don't understand how you consider a rotten carcass, "wasting a deer".
Because legally you can not take any part of the deer including the antlers without tagging it. There for this deer will kust be dumped in the woods to rot. If they wanted the rack as they expressed then tag the deer and all is good in the world.

Here's another question. Why not tag that deer, buy a cape, mount the bone and get another doe for the meat? Or did he not like what he shot and now is poaching???????????? Seems like this probably isn't the first time these POS's were doing this! Obviously pure speculation...
Exactly what I said when the warden said they don't want it bc the meat is bad. My reply was why not tag the buck take the rack and then shoot does for meat. Covers all bases. But of course that is not what they want.

Speculation is that they could not do as you said, ( know a few who have for various reasons) cause they didn't earn the buck. again PURE speculation. as I don't know. I have lost the meat, but I have never lost the deer.

The man who shot the buck did in fact harvest a doe prior. So that is put to rest. It just was a bad call on their part on how to handle it

another bad, cop/irresponsible hunter. If I ever saw a hunter/club member not claim a buck so he could shoot another I would have him thrown out of the club and run him or her out of town!

I thought there were laws that you had to tag an animal and wouldn't the wardens try to track where the animal came from to prove he shot it and didn't claim it? Isnt that the new waste law? Or ws it that he was a fellow officer and the wardens gave him a pass?

as an outsider I see a person pissed off because he passed on a buck someone shot it meat spoiled so they don't want to tag it , but they asked for the rack big deal that bone is just going to lay in the woods till someone sees it and picks it up.to me this is not worth pissing people off around you you may need some day. DID YOU RUN TO THE TEACHER EVERY TIME SOMEONE DID SOMETHING WRONG….

Why did he shoot it if he didn't want the rack? He should have gotten the rack from you and used his tag. He could always shoot does for meat. The reason is obviously that he doesn't want to burn his tag on that buck. Then why did he shoot it?[confused]

yes I would have posted this regardless. I could care less the guy was a cop but when the wardens tell me he called in and has "friends" that just pisses me off.
so you are pissed at the cop, but not the spineless wardens who can be swayed by a guy calling in a favor? If you were truly pissed, you would have asked to speak to the wardens superior officer.

Legally since it is not in their possession no law has been broken. And as a technicality there is no way to prove it was their buck. Learned a big lesson here.

Did you miss reading comprehension in school. I don't care that he shot it i would be happy for anyone to harvest a buck that they would be proud of. But to shoot a buck have it recovered regardless of its condition and then say you don't want it is just wrong in my opinion. And obviously I am not alone in this. And with the inference of your last comment you indirectly just said that what he did was wrong. Thank you.

Once again for like the tenth time I orginally did not ask for the number. But once it became clear that they would cut the rack off and not tag it. if you can't see why I asked then I guess you are of the same mind set as the guy who shot the buck.

my point is stop whining and worrying what others do you have no control over them.if he takes the antlers and doesn't tag it he is not hurting you.hunting is supposed to be fun not something you need to get upset about…..stop worrying about stupid shit others do and hunt.
