Im not looking to make any $$ BUT "$1000 adoption fee" [ko]
Yeah $1000 adoption fee is high. But I'm sure the dog comes with all of its equipment and such. You never know, somebody might want an older calmed down dog that's already trained. You could easily spend more than that on a puppy. I hate to see a duck dog without a home when so many people are using a fishing pole with a plug to retrieve their ducks!

If all he cared about was truly getting the dog into a good home, he wouldn't be asking for a ridiculous adoption fee.

That may very well be. Sometimes people use adoption fees to see if people are serious about adopting the dog, in a way ruling out people who can't afford dog ownership.

Sorry, just don't buy it. Don't claim your giving your dog up for adoption and charge a fee equal to 4 new tires on a damn pickup truck. You can find a good home without asking for money. And you don't "recoup" an "investment" in your dog. Lets be real, if your dog is property and just an investment, you shouldn't have a dog.

My dog is my family and I'd never ever ever give her up. I'd turn down any job, refuse to move to any location etc. to keep my dog. And if it's because of family reasons, like a kid, you do what it takes to adapt the dog into the family. My opinion may not be agreed with but my dog is my family, no dog should be given up.

Agreed I actually baught a mobil home and the day I went to sign the lot lease I baught my dog to meet the neighbors. Shes a 3year old rotti/ lab the 3 year old kids were wrestling with her and riding her the lot owner showed up n said foods are not allowed. I said online it says poets welcome. She said I keep it like that so more people look at the places. It's really only dogs under 25lbs. She said ull have to leave your dog with ur parents or something u already baught the house. True but never gave the money yet I calmly went to my truck got the contract and came back she handed me the lot lease to sign I ripped them both up.. oo well. I baught an actual house a few months ago. Even better

Foods are "naught" allowed but poets are welcome

sounds like a great place

The greatest thing about this thread is that the guy everyone is chastising is not a member of this site. Talk about wasting ones time. Jump over to duckhuntingchat and voice your concerns to the person actually selling the dog. My dog is laying next to my couch farting, safe and sound.

I understand where you are coming from fundimentally. I agree that my dog is a part of my family. Unfortunately, i do think that there are times when it ok to but a dog up for adoption. Some dogs just aren't good with kids, some aren't good with other dogs. My friend had a German Shepard who was showing aggression towards his other dog. He tried to "adapt" the dog and one day he killed the other dog in the back yard in front of his wife and kids. So let's say your dog was showing aggressive behavior towards your toddler. I'm guessing you'd put your kid up for adoption? My point is that there are instances where it is necessary. Obviously way too many people get pets and then get rid of them for stupid reasons, which does piss me off as well.
