I was just reading a post about us hunters not doing enough...and not going to Trenton and what not. Well let's do it, I know it's easier for me to make time in my busy scheduel because I'm still in college and what not, but I think when we can get enough people together we should go. I feel helpless sitting on my computer...I feel the need to make a stand. If anyone wants to put together a rally or whatnot count me in!

Countryboy, great idea.

Why don't you talk to some NJ hunting organizations like: UBHNJ, Federation, etc. and learn a good date to rally behind a particular issue (i.e. - the bear hunt.) These organizations can the contact their members and help arrange a "rally."

Great idea. Please keepus informed with posts. You might even pm Drag and ask him to send you a list of organizations and contact names that would be of help.

35 Whelan is 100% correct.......Too many bs stories for not showing up...for those that did all I can say is THANK YOU[up]

Yep Lou only a few..... And we could have made a statement BIG TIME.... But as alway's hunting was on the "back burner" at that time of the year and there were more important thing's to do... Seem's lynda and her phonie's knew their primary goal and worked hard to achieve it.... Guess what????? THEY WON....
That they did....until we unite like them...we will always be in the same position we are in right now

But a BIG THANK YOU to those that showed up....
Very True [up]

Guess I was an infrequent newbie during OBG, but I do remember it...

It was just a suggestion and if anyone would be willing to do something similar I would certainly be a part of it.

As a federation member i have asked if a rally is 1) advisable 2) feasible & 3) doable and I am still waiting a response. I would worry that if we did rally the amount of no shows would embarr [no swearing please] not only the NJSFSC but those who did show up.
I have posted on another thread that at the last Game Code public meeting we were out numbered 3 to 1 by the an ti's. They were better prepared to speak, stated facts and some even tried crying:[sad]we had very few prepared statements and most pro hunters fumbled their way in talking. We can't let this happen again.
Just as a reminder, for those of us that are old enough to remember Howard Bryant the sports writer who past away a few years ago. The last thing he said to me a few months before his death was 'The NJ hunter is their own worst enemy"
I guess it's time that we start looking in the mirror.

OK guys, I get it - there was a party and only a few people showed. I guess the message is "we obviously failed once at one rally, so the only option is to fail again if we try another rally."

Doesn't make sense to me - AND I know it doesn't make sense to any of you either.

We have a college student that was inspired enough to move our inertia and we did our best to discourage him. Shame on us. Antis will show up at a rally with 5 people and find a way to get media attention as if they had 1000 people.

I say this - if CountryBoy can put together a rally that is:

1. Well planned
2. Has the support of NJ hunting organizations, which will promote the rally to their members.
3. Has a legitimate and compelling issue to rally around (i.e. Corzine's canceling of the bear hunt.)
4. Well organized

... Then I'll be there. If there are hunters on this forum that won't attend a WELL ORGANIZED, PROPERLY PLANNED, ISSUE ORIENTED and PROPERLY PROMOTED event - then chances are that they aren't dedicated hunters anyway and would be of little help toward securing hunting for future generations. That would be their choice not to attend - but it shouldn't influence our choice to initiate a rally.

We already tried to make a statement this past spring..... Anyone remember OBG????? Turned out to be a joke
I was there and I did not take it as a joke. I think it needs to be done next year and the year after. We are not going to get the recognition we want until there is a history of hunters cleaning up. Next year we should try to get a few more people and maybe a couple more dates scheduled and really make sure people know whats going on.

As for a rally I am all for it as i said in past post. But there should be more done at the rally other then protesting out point of view. I think we need to have someone from Hunters Helping the Hungry Taking donations, 170,000 hunters at a dollar per person could keep that well funded and moving in the right direction.

But remember it is not a joke. Involvement will grow year after year and the sportsman's mark will be made in Trenton.

Little man gets the crumb and big man gets it done. Can't fight city hall theres to much money. There is one way to rebel till you get caught is to do what you want. All these originations think they have power till they have to come up with the loot. If everyone joined UBNJ they would have more money to Lobby with those who are already taking their time to do this. Then there could be more things united than trying to unit others who care for them selfs?

Just a thought.

That is what rich did with OBG and no one showed...Im all for it but i just hope it doesnt turn out like last time.
I don't know about the last rally but I can tell you this - if people quit everytime they failed at something we'd still be sitting in a dark cave without heat because even starting a fire was't successful the first time for cavemen.

Perserverance, learning from our mistakes, overcoming challenges, a desire to succeed, commitment - these are that attributes that creat success. Not lamenting.

I can guarantee you that there are things Rich would do differently if he had to try to pull a rally together. He has gained knowlege from the mistakes he made putting together the first rally. That knowledge is what would help to ensure that the next rally was successful.

I admit that I am on NJHunter.com more now than I was at the time of the OBG rally - but I never knew about the OBG rally until this thread. Somehow I never got the message - I'm sure there are others that didnt know about it.

Each of these issues needs to be thoroughly addressed:
1. Well planned
2. Has the support of NJ hunting organizations, which will promote the rally to their members.
3. Has a legitimate and compelling issue to rally around (i.e. Corzine's canceling of the bear hunt.)
4. Well organized

... then well executed.

See point #3 above (point #2 may also apply.)

You haven't done any reconstruction yet so do you think your vote is going to do it? Each time the tables turn it's been for the worst just look at the history. A cry in the wideness. The state organizations need to get stronger and that's only by sportsman's participation and not at the poles? I been in this state for 53 years and I thank God I'm not having to live hear. I never seen more nonsense and feel bad for you guys that do.[mad]

All you need to do to have a rally on the steps of the state house is to inform the City of Trenton. We did it when our contract talks stopped, and we had more people then we would from hunters. Bottom line is this, hunters are all talk and no action. It is like having a lease farm, everyone wants in, when it is time for payment, a good % of people come up with some lame a** reason why they can't do it, this will be no differnt.....Oh wait OBG, I read/heard everything under the sun why people didn't show up, then had the balls to ask us how things went

When the blue collar guys of this state stop following the vote they are told to cast things will start to get better. The last time we had an "R" in power the gun laws were lessened . That is what we need...

Well said.

Who wants to Lobby with Antis? Some of you would be called terrorist's if you were with in 2 ft. of one in your face? What's wrong with belonging to Sportsman's groups that have the Lobbyist's. Nothing being said about all this other than others who think they can take this into their own hands. Makes one wonder how anything is ever going to come together? I know this is venting but it has to get organized and all I'm saying is there are organizations to put our efforts into them who are already fighting for the sportsman.:)
