I'm taking a week off of work this winter for hunting. Unfortunately I can't go out of town this year so I'm stuck with south NJ. Maybe some of the local board members have an educated opinion on what might be the best week of the elusive rutt for 2014.

My zone, "2" the rut was really early last season, I started to see big bucks chase about the second week of october, an the third week, it was like somebody flicked a light switch, bucks were every where, except by my tree stand. Lol

Hmmmmm "STUCK IN SOUTH NJ" some of the biggest deer in this state come off public land in south NJ don't wast your time any place else, best week is Veterans Day week 9 - 14 Nov

With the full Moon being November 6th this year I'm betting the majority of the rut falls the 8th-16th. with the 9th- 12th prime! Of course as every year if we get warm weather it can shut the day light rutting activity down especially in the seeking/chasing phase.

Don't go off of last year s rut with full moons falling Oct 15th and November 13th or w/e it was. We had some areas that does came in early others in mid November and other areas all thru october and November spreading out the rut. This year should be more of a typical November rut with the second week the best

1st week of November for general buck activity, 3rd week November for mature bucks (mature bucks get a little stupid looking for the last does in heat). According to moon phase, 2nd week of November should be peek breeding and usually shuts them big boys down while they're with thier girlfriends!

Thanks all that posted. I'll do a little more research and shoot for the first to third week of November. I liked early bow last year, I felt it took the deer off guard not expecting people hanging from trees. Although I didn't see a single buck from the tree or on cam at my normal spot until the end of the rut but I would see doe just about every sit. I may take out the climber this year and do more scouting and checking some new spots.

you might want to gett out a little earlieer than some are saying hear. All my research shows and have proven earlieer rutt activities zone 10. Pleas look to my zone 10 rut reports from the feild starting in August. Good Luck.

Hey I figured now Is the time to start getting ready, hunting stuff is normally a little cheaper and it's a good time to restock the inventory. And with work it's a lot better to put in vacation several months out. I wanted to get set up to hunt the FAA zone 66 but I think I missed the application time by a long shot.
Now if you wanted some action in a thread I'll make a new one about a conversation I was having with a buddy who hunts in Arizona and said I should look into crossbows. That should get an interesting thread.
