I got a phone call from Mr. Ely last week telling me that they made a mistake and found some left over meat in the freezer from my last order. They had looked over it when they gave me the other 2 boxes of my order. Not only was I happy I had a little more meat coming in but I was surprised he went out of his way to look through the old paperwork, find my number and call me. Thought it was worth mentioning.

The first time I took a deer to a butcher who I knew and bought my meat from charged me $60 which was a lot back then. He gave me 2 big bags and I was ecstatic. I said thank you and went out the back door to my truck and was just about to leave when he ran out and said "what about the rest", He had 2 more bags and I was happy ,just didn't know where to store it. Fortunately my Dad had a big chest cooler so we moved about 50 lbs of cod fillets to make room for my venison. There are a lot of good and trust worthy butchers out there. But after that I learned to cut my own as at the time that was a lot of cash and still is.

I'm not surprised Dewite Ely is a good man as are the other butchers I have dealt with here Tom the butcher and Hunterdon butcher

Ely's is the way to go, my grandfather, father and I have all taken deer to him over decades of hunting seasons. One season we dropped off a few deer during six day and somehow they lost one of the deer that we dropped off. Dwight called my father adn told him he would provide us with the best filet Mignon cuts we'd ever had. my father declined however. Its just a deer, we can always kill another one. it was the thought that counted. Ely's has gone above and beyond for us time and time again

why is that?( not trusting a single butcher)
