Lost decoy great bay wma!

My father lost my grandathers herters cork body broadbill decoy today that's recently been painted. He's not sure if the line snapped or the lines where to short with today's flood tide. He was hunting near the mouth of the creek that Rands marina is on. I know it's a long shot but he's pretty upset about it and was hoping one of he's fellow fowlers found it today. I'm sure there'd be a little reward for it also.

On a side note did anybody hear about the three guys in their late twenties from PA that sunk their boat today in the bay. My dad was talking to them after the state police dropped them off at the marina. They where in a 16 to 18 foot war eagle boat with a dog and a big layout boat. The 25 to 30 mph came as a wall today and their boat took on water and started sinking but the layout boat floated and they where able to get them selfs the dog and their guns aboard the layout till rescue arrived! Now those are some lucky guys right there that they had a layout boat on board. Most likely overloaded with gear and guys on a boat that size out in rough water.

Anyway if anybody has info about the decoy it be greatly appreciated!

as for the pennsltucky googans, can't say I'm shedding a tear...glad they are ok...but they are as whole the dumbest bunch fucktard waterfowlers....take their tin can rigs back to the Suskie and stick to shooting lizards.....big water is for big boys who know what the F they're doing.....my new bumper sticker "STAY IN PA "(comes in a barrel sticker to)

I certainly hope it's the retards with the DU edition War Anchor. I warned them last year at BI, that tin can sea ducking is dangerous. The head pro-staffer that day told me you just have to read the tides.

I will ask the local diggers to gimme a call if the decoy turns up.

The bay kicked hard just before 9 lots of dumb asses out lower Barney was a clown convention. Every 300 yards there was a rig along shore oh and the guys blasting buffies near the creep house go home you're drunk 120 yards must be real effective with steel.. Douche commanders these days

Great bay sucks in any wind direction...but howling out of the west is stupid. We canned a scoter hunt early in the year when they were calling for 15 out of the west. Weatherman lied and it was glass till noon, but we shot pintail and gadwall instead[smirk]

Those modified V's are certainly not the greatest boats for big water let alone over loaded. Glad they are ok, but lesson learned. Don't chance anything on the big water in the winter or the bay will swallow you up. Not worth the risk for a couple buffies they are most likely going to skybust anyway.

Ran 2 miles yesterday for wigeon and gaddies.....mission accomplished

Last year I had a group of guys from PA cut me off at the ramp and haul ass into the marsh only to slam into a submerged dock. They were around the bend and all I hear was there motor kick up and them and there gear slam into the bow.

We passed these guys at 9:15 on our way back in they were just heading out and there were 3 ft. swells and breaking waves and wind against the tide just made it worse when you rounded the fish factory to the bay, not a very good decision to keep going but I guess a duck is more important than their lives. Little Egg inlet is not a place for anyone in these weather conditions and if you do not know how to read the winds and tides do not go simple as that. Also we had a guy in the 12 ft. Sneakbox with his kid that was setting up 150 yrds. from us so I went over and told him that he was way to close to us and also setting up on very shallow water plus the conditions are going to get worse and he left the area. 10 minutes later that area had 4-5 ft. beakers crashing on the shoal. But the moral of this is you can not fix stupid. Good luck to all and be safe.

Yeah it's a big joke now...but if one of their buddies was plucked from the bottom with a face like a blueberry would they be taking selfies then....just proves my point, fucking nimrods...the bay ain't some pond between two coal mines...go back to squirrel hunting

I just think we as humans, should let mother nature weed out the weak of the population. I saved my share of dumb ass people in the Coast Guard. We risked our lives for people who were just plain stupid. I think New Jersey should triple the price of out of state license....specifically for PA jerkoffs.

yup, 'Survival of the fittest'...unfortunately in todays age we not only foster the stupid and weak - now we pay for their friggin healthcare!

not to high jack the thread but , my father in law lives on osbourne island with a lagoon, i was thinking hard about trying it next year..i have a 14 ft deep v with a 30 hp on the back..myquestion is if i dont try to go to far out and stay along the land is my boat o.k... i had a warden show me a good spot last year...thanks.

I wouldn't feel to confident in a boat that size out there. The shore means nothing out there on the bay. Depending on what way the wind is blowing the shore can be even nastier then the middle of it. One of our boats is a 16 v hull aluminum with a 15 on it and we are very careful about using that boat out there. Middle of winter on the great bay is not the time you want to test the seaworthyness of your boat! But it's not all about the size of the boat also. How heavy is it or how high are the gunnels? My dad has a 13 sneakbox that's prob one of the biggest ones you'd every see, this boat is a tank its a old cedar sailboat converted and he's been using that boat out there for decades. He wouldn't think twice on most conditions to take that boat across but with the lightweight aluminum boat forget it.

^ Exactly, it's not the length of the boat...it's the design and construction....14ft seaclass TDB eats some nasty conditions....a 14 v-hull gets eaten....a 13ft Dave Clark estuary or Garvey you're fine....14ft flat bottom skiff or jon you're popping flares
