I would love to hear an educated and thoughtful answer from someone. I have a friend who's sat in the cold, snow, ice, and rain yesterday waiting for a bear. These guys knew they were there and saw them. The deer drivers came through and drove right past him and another guy yelling YO' Buck. Why are you yelling and making the deer run, it's much harder to hit a running target than a walking one. As a hunter why would you ruin someone else's hunt? For that your a dick only thinking about yourself. Second of all the drove the state land towards their club which backs up to the stateland. Why not drive just your club and let the others have a peaceful day in the woods. This is what gives hunters and clubs a bad name. I understand its public land but where the hell did hunter etiquette go?

i see the same guy by my public land spot every year starting now, i spoke to hime once and he told me they dont want to push or trample around on their private land so they gun hunt and drive public land.....real nice

I always look at the bright side maybe they would push a bear to me? Maybe a nice buck sneaks around the drive and doubles back (happens alot) I know its inconsiderate of others but I try to stay positive.

I have a several hundred acres by my house that I was given permission to post. I've been hunting it for about ten years. There is a local farmer and his buddies that do a drive right through my posted property every year. These guys know me and we are very friendly with each other, but when it comes to buck week the gloves are off. Two years ago a guy with what looked to be 2 camera men walked right up to me. I explained they were tresspassing and asked them to leave. First thing out of his mouth "do you know who your messing with?" then he spewed out legal verbage of propperly posting property and the tresspass laws...and on and on. When he was done I answered his question and told him he was a well educated tresspasser! I used to get upset when I first realized they were doing this, but what am I really going to do? I'm not going to sit and play cop or base my hunt around trying to catch them...they'll be back next year any way. This is N.J. There is no such thing as sacred private property. Hanging signs is a waste of time because it only turns away honest people. I used to work in Hercules in Roxbury back before it was closed down and taken over by the UBNJ morons. You should have seen what guys would to hunt inside there! Happened regularly! High fence with barbed wire, 24 hr patrol, and cameras....people still broke in. You will never keep guys off your private land in this state.

I really don't mind guys driving. I hunted public land yesterday and always plan for it. I setup deep between the drive on a ridge and wait for them to push something my way. I had two groups of 10 or more guys each push the piece I was on. They were yo bucking, walked by I waved and was just happy to be out. They pushed 6 doe and one buck by that was out of range. I could have shot any of the doe but it's closed during six day. All those deer went right around them and behind them like it was nobody's business and all came right in my lap besides the buck. No one shot a thing on any of the drives and realistically I probably wouldn't have seen a damn thing if they didn't push the place with that weather. Last year they pushed an 8 pt to me but didn't have a clear shot. I will be back there next year waiting on the push too!

Before where I live now I hunted Walpack for 20or so years. I shot a buck every year, and most were before 8:00. Like stated above, I put my stand in a spot and hunted "for the hunters" They put deer in my lap every year! Well except one year..a guy got wise to my secret and posted up about 80 yards away. I had no clue he was there until the shot rang out..dandy of an 8 pt.

amazes me how many people also dont understands how well a WELL RUN deer drive can be , and thinks all who drive are idiots.
Drives started well before all the newest crazes out there and im sure will also be used well past when they run out ( Baiting, cross bows, mineral licks etc).
Drives were a way for the guys who only hunt one week out of the year to see the most movement.
For the most part deer move a few times a day, driving keeps them up and on their feet ALL day .
And drives using the wind and being done by people knowing where to put the standers on escape runs put ALOT of deer on the ground.
Many guys yelling the YO BUCK or what ever they call out are doing that to let the standers as well as the other drivers know where they are. Its a safety thing.
Cant tell you how many deer BEDDED and also sneaking out the back of the drive I shot safely knowing where the driver next to me was.
It also allows the drivers to keep in a line creating less holes if someone gets out in front or lags behind.
So seems more to me the guys bitching and whining about it just dont understand all the mechanics of what makes a good drive succesful.
Guys I grew up with are mostly farmers, who are working their asses off during the bow seasons. and the short gun week and orig doe days is where they put their meat in the freezer from .
we hunt all private land , and us driving may even help the neighbors some as deer do get out of the drives, and the movement created stirs up the woods some.. and when sitting the end of the day we see more movement than noraml due to the deer trying to get back to the areas they had been pushed from . as they circle back
more than likely until the snow stops there will be little deer movement today .
instead of sitting getting wet and snow covered, guys driving will get out and have a blast with friends and family, This week its a WE game not a ME game.
and while I love the serenity of bowhunting all fall and even in late winter. I probably like this week as much or maybe even more as I get to see many friends having a great time SHARING the woods together.
and the misses as well as the sucessful shots become memories were all like talking about while waiting till the following year.
and regarding STATE LAND , I guess the deer only come back when the Bird hunters leave. Those deer have learned to adapt to human walking pressure a THOUSAND times more than the deer on private pieces do.

i love bow hunting... i stay out of the woods during shotgun season. Too much BS like this goes on. With only one week everyone is pressured to get deer. The result of that pressure is inconsiderate hunters trying to fill their tag at all costs, including deer driving right through other hunters setups.

I have no problem with others hunting methods and have taken part in a few well organized and safe drives. Unfortunetly most groups that drive in my area are a conglomerate of unsafe outlaws that can destroy many acres of state land in a single afternoon. Another thing is we don't have nearly as much of an issue of trespassing on private land as I see most post on here. (On my private land anyway) For the most part people in my area are respectful and if there is a posted sign that means stay off and they follow the rules, as do i.
I watched 9 deer sneak out the side of a drive yesterday....5 minutes later they were back. I've killed many deer off of others drives, no biggie, talked to a driver yesterday, he went 20 steps past me and a deer ran behind us...they cant push them out, deer go where they want to, especially in big woods. They may push a small wood lot but in my experience the deer will circle back if thats where they are comfortable.

They're assholes with zero respect for hunters already in the woods. Driving is how you kill animals when you don't have the knowledge or patience to do it any other way.

ANYTIME you want to judge your numbers against the guys I grew up hunting with just to show you what an IDIOT YOU ARE , im more than welcome to.
My house as well as the friends I hunt with are FULL ( heck I dont even have room for another buck in my whole house ) of nice bucks taken both bowhunting and driving deer deer, we know our farms better than we know our houses, as we spend more time there.
NEXT you will trying to tell us that hunting over a bait pile with a crossbow is the SAME as Bowhunting [rofl]

Check out the bucks in the Garden State Whitetail Classic. I know that there are bucks in there almost every year that are killed on well executed drives. Scouting, cameras, precision deer drive. These guys shoots monsters every year.

They should have some respect for other hunters,last Monday I had a guy walk down the mountain where he can see me the whole time and walked 15 feet in front of me as I sat there and just gave me a head nod,the least he could've done is stay 40 yards or so away. I don't mind people doing drives but at same time be considerate of other hunters you see in the woods
