So I decided to give it another go with Nick today, hoping the deer would be up n moving with the bad weather coming in.... We didn't have much time. After all the pick ups and drop offs with his siblings- we were getting in at the tail end of hunting. I figured it was at least worth a shot and possibly beneficial as Nick is challenged with sitting still in the stand and unable to hold his bladder :/ We got in the stand at 1515... after the first hour of watching nothing but tree-rats, I figured we just got in too late. Nick looks at me and says- Next-time Im bringing my sling shot! lol Then a friendly Tree-Rat decides to run up our tree, Nick looks up in shock that hes walking up right behind us- and just as I was ready to say- don't look up... Dumb squirrel kicks bark debri in Nicholas' eyes....grrrr So now were both moving getting the crap out of his eyes. [wallmad] Done....settle again, Its 1639... I glance up and see a deer....oh yay- I turn to Nick to tell him, and he already has his eyes locked on him as I whisper "Nick!...Deer"...I get the "shhhhh, I know Ma!".... okey-doke.... This guys about 50 yards out, coming in with his nose to the ground- just like my buck the other day. I just washed our clothes again and used a little bit of That Victoria Secret Estrous on my boots... Bucks seem to like that stuff...[lol] as soon as he tucks behind a tree, Im all over Nick to hurry, hurry... take position! Nick quickly gets ready and I start rambling a (whisper lecture).... "Nick, Be SURE of your shot, wait till he comes in closer, hold for a good shot, let him walk in....blah, blah blah....."....Nick responds...."SHHHHHHHH!"... He continues to walk in seemingly on a mission, nose sniffing- stopping and going... until he gets about 25 yards out he stops with his nose to the ground again.... right where I sprayed that darn estrous... He's quartering towards... (some on here may not like this part...lol) "I whisper again, "Nick- wait for a sure shot, look at his position, think about your.......(SNAP!!!!)- Nick takes the shot.... I see the deer Jump and Bolt off- I start on Nick... you didn't even let me finish telling you..... (and I hear that Same Familiar CRASH!!!!)- I jump up, Nick! you got him, You got him. He smiles and hurries to the area of impact- looks like a crime scene! Most blood Ive seen outside the Trauma Bay!- It looked like someone took a can of red paint and poured it out in a line right to the deer! Amazing![up] Nicks first kill lay just 30 yards ahead in some brush. My kills were only double-lungs, a lot different looking this time...upon autopsy- Nick got a heart/lung shot... explains all the pumped out blood! Fantastic!!! Im so Happy for my boy! <3 He took a hard shot (altho this seems to be my favored shot lately)- He was confident he could do it and followed thru. He practices all the time- until he gets it right- well I guess that time in, just paid off! He couldn't stop thanking me for taking him hunting again tonight, along with all those hugs n kisses :love-struck: Now His buck resides with mine in my homemade meat locker- (shed)- hanging till we embark on our first deer processing together
) Im sure that will be an adventure too. Here are some pics of tonight;
