It is really great to see a legimate 140 class buck shot here in NJ.........even better that it truly is a 140 class buck. So sick and tired of guys shooting 95 inch bucks and calling them 130 inch. CONGRATS AGAIN!!!

Thanks for all the great feedback! It just adds good feelings to an already great feeling!

This does go to show if you are willing to pass up smaller bucks(which I have passed countless dinks, baskets and some decent 105+ deer this season, but can't seem to find the does at the right place and time to harvest haha) the reward is great. I've eaten my far share of tag soup over the years but I was content on upgrading my wall with a 120 or better as I have like 7 racks from the past few years between 105 and 110. Now they are all great trophies to me as I worked hard for them with miles and miles of scouting and endless hours of sitting every chance I get but was looking to mature as a hunter and let the VERY tempting just outside the ears racks walk on by in hopes of a slammer. It paid of for me and can for you also.

Just a little heads up for you guys, this was on heavily baited public land and there was not one kernel of corn in this bucks stomach. There was nothing but grass, leaf browse a few bits of acorns and loads of few different small seeds about the size of pepper corns. Not bashing bait as I know it has its place but not every place is its place is what I'm saying so look around and find where they want to be NOT where you want to be.

Again, thank you my fellow hunters for the congratulaitions and if you haven't tagged out yet get your butts out there cause they are on their feet looking to go to a taxidermist near you!

Congrats on a great buck. One observation you made is interesting however, and that's in regards to your buck not having any corn in him.
I believe that may be a factor of him most likely not stepping foot into that area due to pressure, other than to chase does of course, which is what enabled you to kill him, rather than a conscience avoidance of bait, if that's what you're alluding to.
On the other hand, its possible he may have had a bad experience around bait at some point in his life and has avoided it ever since. Doesn't really make a difference at this point because you got him!
