Cold snotty morning turned into a hot lunch hour! Got in the tree well before first light and as soon as I reached the last step to my stand the wind whipped in which seem to be gusting like 40 mph. So I figured I'm here and not gonna back out now. Well luckily the wind was short lived and died down quickly right before the blizzard hit. Wet nasty snow blowing in my face for about three hours was kinda brutal but with goretex parka and bibs I managed to stay mostly dry. I seen a bruiser that I had seen last Sunday skirt by me in the thick, then shortly after I had two doe come by right at the hardest snow fall with a half rack 100 inch in tow at 15 yards about 8:00. I've been wanting to shoot a doe but after seeing the big one five minutes before I held off on the does. It died off for a while before seeing a big spike walk by 15 yards followed by a decent basket seven point down the same trail. Now it's pretty breezy and its starting to cut through me and I'm getting cold but told myself Ill get down at 1:00 to stretch the legs grab some grub and get right back in the tree. I'm glad I made myself that promise cause not 5 minutes later the hoss shows his face 50 yards away! I grab my bow and start calming myself down as he is making his way to me saying to myself aim small miss small, take your time and don't screw up!!! Well about 30 seconds later he is in a wide open shooting lane at 15 yards ( right where all the other deer walked through) I draw back settle on him calm myself some more and settle again and let the arrow fly hitting him perfect double lung watched him run 20 yards and start the greatest thing a bowhunter can see...the tail wag and over he goes! It's my biggest buck by a good clip and to take him on pressured public land that was just trampled by pheasant hunters is a great feeling and one ill never forget!

Man that is simply awesome... Just for putting the time in on public land alone - well deserved. Staying calm for the shot - nerves of steel.
I know after the shot, on that buck - would have taken me 30 minutes to stop shaking... The ultimate blessing for a bowhunter is to be able to stave off that adrenaline until after the shot.... Congrats on making P&Y! Please post the gross green score, has to be over 130".... Great character for a 10, he did it the non-conventional way with one split brow.

WOW What a brute! Way to go and stick it out today. Glad it all came together for you!!!
