personally doubt a trooper is going to lose his job and pension over a hunting war on his fathers behalf. I would get a co involved immediately. They are there to help you and you need to keep them informed. Buy yourself a covert and hang it up as soon as it goes missing text it from your phone and it will send you a lat and Lon position of where it is. Game over.
