I hope the fallen hunter a speedy recovery. Accidents happen that's why they're called accidents. I don't think every hunter who falls out of a treestand and is injured are being careless. Accidents are one thing carelessness is another. I fell years ago while climbing down after shooting a deer. Thought I had my foot on a screw-in step but it was a branch that broke and I fell 15 feet. Didn't use a strap back then but did thereafter. We should all learn from our lessons as sportsmen and share that lesson with those who come behind us.

One linemans rope is not enough. To get around limbs and into a stand while NEVER being unattached to the tree requires two ropes.

the guys at treehopper made me a second rope with clips on both ends so I can always have a second rope ready to throw over a limb or above a platform before disconnecting the first. I bought a couple and they thought I was nuts but they made em for me anyway. That was a very long time ago. Now a days I just use the two ropes w/clips on both ends with a loggy harness that has d-ring for a linemans set up.

if your not using two ropes your doing it wrong and your gonna hurt.

i just searched hanging stands on YouTube and the first video I clicked had a kid showing the proper way to use two ropes with a linemans rig.

There is no excuse for ever being unattached at ANY point in the process.
