So with a high chance of rain tomorrow, especially in the morning, who will be going out? I took off of work and of course it's going to rain, supposedly. Who here hunts in the rain whether it is down pour, consistent but not heavy or if it's a drizzle? I have one of those rain hoods you hang from the tree so I am thinking of using that. Think the deer will move during the rain fall if it's heavy?

I like hunting drizzle or a little bit of a consistent rain. Dampens my movements into spots. Other day, I got within 40 yards of two deer bedded down walking to my spot & my scent was blowing towards them. Coulda got closer. Rained here good overnight & still drizzling now in AR. Gonna get out this afternoon, hopefully catch them going to feed. Downside is I have to walk nearly a half mile out of my way to hunt where I plan so I don't have my scent go all through the woods...

One of the best times to hunt rutting bucks is as soon as a heavy rain stops or lightens up. The only way to be there at that moment is to sit in the heavy rain and wait it out. Those tree umbrellas are fantastic items, you still want to wear a rainsuit but the umbrellas keep most of the rain off.

The wind in Montgomery tomorrow is suppose to be about 12+ mph but in my face which is good for me plus the rain so. I'm thinking of still going out rain or shine

Of course you can go hunting when it rains, but be warned there is a high likelihood of losing a deer if it drops out of sight. By the time you get down to track the blood will be washed away. Heck your arrow will be washed off and you might not even think you hit the deer!

I agree with treedude, I don`t hunt in the rain with a bow due to blood wash out, I do hunt in the rain with gun or muzz.

i dont care about my 4year old bow -what i care about is getting back home and throwing my 3day old scentblocker suit in the dryer but its november so its worth it[up]
A light rain is great for hunting, especially with leaves still on the trees. The noise masks just about any movements you have in the stand, and makes stalking in leaf covered ground very fun.
Heavy rain stinks to hunt in, especially with wind. Heavy rain definitely can affect arrow flight, so unless you have taken practice shots in snotty weather, I probably wouldn't do it.

Today is windy and raining. Really nasty. Was all prepped to go out this evening after work. Hopefully better weather the next couple days. I couldn't come to grips with shooting something with an arrow tonight and not being able to find it because of blood trail. I have a pop up blind so I may still give it a try but would have to be close in shot of the 20 yards variety and a no doubt angle.
